Anthony Zigarelli, 21, of Manchester Township, was sentenced to six years in New Jersey State Prison for his role in a 2024 shooting in Toms River.

According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Zigarelli pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and being a certain person not to possess a weapon. The sentences will run concurrently, with the aggravated assault sentence subject to the No Early Release Act, requiring him to serve at least 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

The shooting happened on May 14, 2024, around 4:05 p.m. near Camino Medio and Camino Verde. Police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots.

Investigators determined that a male victim was riding his bicycle through the area when Zigarelli and 19-year-old Anthony Ventrice were standing outside a vehicle. Ventrice allegedly fired multiple shots at the victim before getting into the vehicle with Zigarelli. Zigarelli then allegedly fired additional shots at the victim as they drove past.

The victim was not struck and was uninjured.

Zigarelli was arrested on May 29, 2024, and had remained in the Ocean County Jail since his arrest.

Ventrice, who was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, also pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. His sentencing is still pending.
