Man Grabbed from Vehicle, Assaulted and Robbed

lpd tls‎A man sitting in his vehicle in Lakewood last night was robbed after being grabbed from his vehicle and pushed to the ground, Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith says.

At about 10 p.m. Last night, Officer Joe Przewoznick was dispatched to a reported robbery on Astor Drive.

Upon arrival, the officer met with a 32 year-old Brick man who reported that while he and a female friend were sitting in his car, they were approached by two unidentified black males.

“The victim stated that one of the men, dressed in a dark hooded sweatshirt, grabbed him through his open window,” Staffordsmith says. “After a brief struggle, he was removed from the car and pushed to the ground.”

At that point, the suspect put what the victim believed to possibly be a gun to the back of his head, as the second male, dressed in dark jeans and a dark sweatshirt ransacked his car in search of money, Staffordsmith says.

The alleged gunman then took the victim’s wallet, cell phone and car keys. Both suspects then fled the area on foot prior to police arrival.

An Ocean County Sheriff’s Department K-9 unit responded to try and locate the fleeing suspects. However, it was unsuccessful.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Mike Cavallo or PO Andre Nickens at 732-363-0200 ext. 5317.

  1. The criminal could not have possibly had a gun The laws of NJ forbid it.

When is NJ going to let people carry guns to protect themselves without going through all the (expensive) permit getting, schooling, classes, etc. Other states don’t require anything to carry a gun.

  2. youre saying that how could someone have had a gun? what world are you living in? unfortunately, anyone can buy a gun on the internet no questions asked. in order to buy a gunLEGALY people have to go thru all the questions and so forth: other states dont require anything to carry a gun you say? where on earth did you get that from? you sound like basically most people should carry a gun like a usual item for instance like a phone?

The second part of your statement suggests that expensive permits and schooling can result in permission to carry a firearm in NJ. To clarify, no amount of money or connections can grant you access to a CCW in the garden state.

On a side note, in light of the rapidly changing world we live in maybe there is a way for the frum community to obtain special permits for designated members to lawfully “pack” in shuls.

  4. This story doesn’t pass the sniff test. What was the female passenger doing while the driver was pushed to the ground- through the window, no less. Either it’s not being reported accurately or there’s a lot more to the story.

  5. Oh so frum people should be able to carry guns BUT only in shul. No they should legalize guns and yes you should carry it like a cell phone. It’s a form of protection from people who already have the guns illegally. Protect yourself and be prepared.

  6. Next time someone approaches you while your in the car you know what you do. You push the gas. & that’s the end of the story. Why would you let a stranger grab hold of you while your behind the wheel of a car. You drive off that’s all
