Authorities in Howell are on scene this evening where a man was found deceased in his vehicle.
The man was located around 5:00 PM at the Howell Common Shopping Center by a passerby who notified police.
Upon arrival, police determined the man had been deceased for several days.
When police determined the deceased was Jewish, they immediately contacted Chaplain Seth Haber and other Askonim to ensure the body and scene were handled in accordance to Jewish law. Misaskim was then called to assist with cleaning up the scene.
”The police officers were extremely courteous and caring,” said one of the Askonim on scene.
The man, who had no local family, was approximately 70 years old, police tell TLS. The death does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
Askonim are working with the Medical Examiner’s office to ensure he receives a proper burial.
It’s scary it took a few days for someone to notice
As indicated, the man had no local family. Otherwise there would probably been a missing person report. BDE.
In such a busy shopping center no one noticed him for a few days? A few months ago after having worked all day in Boro Park I was driving home at midnight and felt tired so I parked in a lighted area by the Old Bridge Wawa, reclined my seat and fell asleep , after 5 minutes I had a cop knocking on my window to make sure that I’m OK.
It’s very terrible to live alone ; an obese 60 year old buchur always used to stop in to my office in Boro Park and than I hadn’t seen him for a few weeks , Shomrim found him in his hoarded basement apartment probably after a few weeks.
Living alone isn’t the end of the world if done right.
That’s so sad😢
