Major Drug Bust In Brick Leads To Arrest, Seizure Of Heroin, Fentanyl, Cocaine, MDMA And Other Drugs

A major narcotics investigation by the Brick Township Police Department has resulted in the arrest of a Brick Township man and the seizure of significant quantities of suspected illegal drugs, authorities announced.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, members of the Brick Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU), following an extensive investigation into the alleged distribution of illegal narcotics throughout Ocean County, executed multiple court authorized search warrants.

According to police, detectives identified Charles Duffy of Brick Township as an alleged distributor of heroin and fentanyl operating in the Ocean County area.

During the investigation, detectives located Duffy and took him into custody without incident. At the same time, members of the Brick Township Police Department Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) executed a search warrant at his residence. An adult female, identified as Latasha Chaneyfield, was also present inside the home.

The search resulted in the seizure of approximately:

* 189 grams of suspected cocaine and/or crack cocaine
* 286 individual glassine wax folds containing suspected heroin/fentanyl
* 82 grams of suspected MDMA
* 57 grams of suspected fentanyl
* 29 grams of suspected oxycodone pills
* More than $2,500 in U.S. currency

Police also recovered alleged drug distribution and packaging materials, including a digital money counter, vacuum sealer, digital scale, suspected cutting agents and additional packaging materials.

Duffy was charged on a criminal complaint warrant with multiple offenses, including first degree possession with intent to distribute five ounces or more of cocaine/crack cocaine and first degree maintaining a controlled dangerous substance production facility.

He also faces second degree charges for possession with intent to distribute MDMA and heroin/fentanyl, as well as additional third degree charges involving alleged possession and distribution of oxycodone, Xanax, Tramadol and Adderall. Other charges include money laundering, two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, certain persons not to have weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Duffy was transported to the Ocean County Jail pending his first court appearance.

Chaneyfield was charged on a criminal complaint summons with conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute heroin/fentanyl, possession of heroin/fentanyl, cocaine and MDMA, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released pending a future court appearance.

The investigation involved the Brick Township Police Department Street Crimes Unit, SERT, Patrol Division and Identification Unit.
