LUAC Requests Assistance Locating Hazardous Utilities Equipment in Lakewood

luac tlsThe Lakewood Utilities Advisory Committee has recently met with the Verizon External Affairs Regional Head to discuss the state of some of the company’s equipment around town. Exposed wiring and open splice boxes are some of the issues discussed at the meeting between the LUAC and Verizon External Affairs at the Township.

“Unfortunately, as with many corporations of Verizon’s size, individual callers often have a difficult time assuring their complaint on such issues reaches the correct location,” an LUAC member told TLS. “In some cases this may be an inconvenience, in other cases it can be a safety concern requiring immediate attention.”

The LUAC has been given instructions on how to submit a complaint on critical maintenance issues to the external affairs team. These channels are not for normal service issues, but for issues that pose a danger and hazard to the public if not repaired immediately

If you notice open utility boxes with exposed wiring, improperly installed or uninstalled utilities boxes, or other situations that appear extraordinarily out of order, please contact the at [email protected] with this information or fax to the Manager’s Office at 732-905-5991 Attention LUAC.

To submit a complaint make sure to include:

1) 1) The exact location and nature of the hazard- Street address closest to the hazard, pole number and any other identifying information that will help crews locate the issu e.
2) Images- If you can send this information in with a picture it is even better as this makes it easier for Verizon technicians to understand the severity of the problem.
3) Name and Contact Information if more details are needed- Each complaint must be signed with a name to be moved forward to Verizon. If you would rather not have your personal information forwarded to Verizon, please note that and the complaint will be submitted in the name of the LUAC. However, it is important that your contact information is included should any further assistance be needed in clarifying the situation locally before it is sent to the company.
