LPD Takes Delivery of 2 New Motorcycles

The Lakewood Police Department this week took delivery of two new motorcycles – added to the Traffic Safety division.

Are new motorcycles really necessary? They are seldom used. you dont have the same argument as for new patrol cars which have to be reliable, the motorcycles are not used for critical police work.

So now we all need to be always nervous and worried when we hear a motorcycle behind us lest its a cop. Waiting to give you a ticket

Is it true that many municipalities and other local State Police Dept. Have stopped or greatly limited using motorcycles? Thought I heard Pennsylvania state police got rid of Thier motorcycle unit quite a while ago. Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong.

Is there any thing the LPD can do that doesn’t cause silly or sarcastic remarks? I’m sure the motorcycles are used plenty in this town, with all the things going on. Be proud of the LPD you never know when you will need them!!!!!

I just think it’s wrong and I think it’s bad judgment on the part of many out there to question when the township decides to purchase something that will ultimately benefit the people of that township. We had the same kvetchers when the township acquired a few new police cars and it happened in other instances too. I don’t doubt that when the township decides to spend money all considerations have been taken into account, no less if the township can afford it. Also I believe the decisions aren’t made by one person but rather by officials who we appreciate and trust to make the right one. So why all the hysteria???

I think it’s great that the police department has these motorcycles, they can get in and out of traffic, nice seeing them lead parades, Torah movements etc,

Ive only seen these motorcycles used during ceremonies and parades. We need more cops not more old cops on useless motorcycles!

The police use the motorcycles at large community affairs and events because they can get around much easier. Also they are used in parades and funerals. Which people could contact the police department for them to assist in funeral processions.
