LPD: Lakewood Residents fell Prey to Phone Scammers

lpd suv tlsThe Lakewood Police Department today is warning residents to be vigilant after some local residents fell for the scams.

“Recently several of our residents have fallen victim to savvy phone scammers who purport to be anything from a representative of the Internal Revenue Service soliciting tax money, to a representative from a clearinghouse notifying you of a lottery win,” Detective Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith says. “Please do not fall prey to these scams. Never give anyone, who has called you unsolicited, any personal information…..NEVER.”
