If you were unable to get through to Lakewood Police following this afternoon’s earthquake, that’s because the lines were flooded with calls. “The phones would not stop ringing”, Police Captain Gregory Meyer tells TLS. Captain Meyer says the hundreds of calls continued to pour in for close to an hour following the 2:00 PM incident, requiring police to assign extra officers to the radio room.
Many callers got a busy signal, but many could simply could not get through due to their own cell service being down.
There were no earthquake-related injuries reported. TLS-CCP.
