The Lakewood Police Department is asking that residents not flood the police emergency lines with non urgent calls in the event Irene hits Lakewood. “Do not call police with weather related – non-emergency -questions”, Police Captain Gregory Meyer says. “Someone may need us won’t be able to get through”.
During the earthquake earlier this week, police lines were flooded with non-emergency calls, causing the lines to be jammed with many callers unable to get through to police.
The Captain reiterated that residents should remain home and keep off the roads.
Also, says Captain Meyer, residents should stay tuned in to the media for constant updates which would better prepare residents ahead of the storm. TLS-SRC.
Thanks Capt Meyer…Great information

Chief,
So who exactly should should someone contact If they have a question in regards to the hurricane(in regards to a potential emeragancy)
If lakewood would have a active OEM I guess that would be a option
Hey confused !!!! Buy yourself a battery radio and tune into 92.7 WOBM FM for weather updates. I get u guys have no tvs, computers etc but I think Hashem will excuse u for listening to the radio for important, possibly life threatening weather. Unless your house is on fire a tree falls down on your house or sone other REAL EMERGENCY happens don’t call us. Leave the li es open for people who really need police assistance. You need a weather report, look outside your window and see it
no computers ,how did this person post this?
your right just buy a radio ,besides the police are not weather reporters and thats no their are of expertise dont watse their time with such silly questions ,leave the lines open for real emegencies
