Local Authorities Searching for Robbery Suspect who Slashed Gas Attendant with Knife

crime scene lpd tlsLocal police are searching for an armed robber who slashed a gas attendant in Toms River.

At approximately 10:33 am on July 6, there was a knife point robbery of the “Lukoil” Gas Station located at 1820 Hooper Avenue in the Silverton section of Toms River (just south of the Brick Twp. Border).

Police say an unknown white male walked up behind the attendant, who at the time was changing the receipt paper in one of the gas pumps. The male made a verbal demand for money and the attendant gave him an undetermined amount of cash. The male suspect demanded more money, and the attendant told him he had none.

“The male then produced a knife (possibly a folding pocket type) in his right hand and slashed the attendant thru the front of his shirt,” police say. “The attendant then turned away and the male slashed him again on his left arm.” The wounds were superficial and required minor attention with no hospitalization. After the Robbery the suspect fled on foot in a northerly direction on Hinds Road, which parallels Hooper Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white Male, fair complexion, approx. 25-30 years old and clean shaven. At the time of the Robbery he was wearing a white tee shirt, white shorts, and a blue ball cap. He has a medium build and is possibly around 6 feet tall.

Anyone with information should contact Detective Robert O’Neill at 732-249-0150, Ext. 1255.
