H.E.A.P – The Home Energy Assistance Program which helps low-income residents with their heating and cooling bills, and makes provisions for emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance within the Home Energy Assistance Program, has extended the application deadline, a sign on the office states.
The deadline, which officially was today, was extended until June 30,2014,

The reason for this is bc they have a lot of leftover unused funds to distribute the reason for this is bc they make you jump through hoop after hoop to get approved. They are much worse this year than in the years past. I’m not saying t should be easy but for for some reason this year they asked me for every document twice then sent me letter that they need more and then updated this and updated that. It has been a six month process almost and all for a couple hundred bucks . It’s appreciated from the state but the workers in the office in lakewood are little but out of control this year
My mom dad and me are all disabled household. we didn’t have heat all winter, and still don’t its ashame to see mom and dad, so cold, i don’t really care so much about me but my mom is in a wheelchair , and my dad just had another stroke not long ago,
