Dear Lakewood Scoop,

I would very much appreciate it if you could post this because I feel that it is urgent information to get to other Yidden.

An uncle of mine is extremely sick with the machla.

3 weeks ago a neighbor was at our house and told us his mother who has the machla and is feeling much better because she started taking an FDA approved product called valasta, and 2 of her tumors have started shrinking.

She gave us the information, we called to learn more and how much my uncle should take, it is nearly 3 weeks now and my uncle no longer feels nauseous, he has the strength to walk around, his appetite is back, and he looks much healthier. And this past Thursday for the first time his blood work after his chemotherapy was good and he did not need to take a neupogen shot BH’. I now keep hearing from more people very good results with the machla and with other illnesses like arthritis, parkinsons, dementia, diabetes, after a stroke, and it works for many other illnesses as well, when you read the science you will understand this.

The product is science-backed, there is a lot of research on it, and it has a patent to treat cancer and other diseases. The yidden only found out very recently about it. We bought it for my uncle on the website – www.valasta.net -with a coupon code 1234, but there are many people who have it for a chessed in their houses all over the world. There are yiddish people who have trained with all the information about it. The phone number for the information is 732-994-3908, and the email address is [email protected]

  1. To be clear, Valasta (astaxanthin) is FDA approved for use as a food coloring for certain fish and animal foods. It is highly deceptive to write that “she started taking a FDA approved product” when the approval was specifically for feeding your fish, not for eating by humans, let alone as a cure for cancer.

      • Fact is that this letter is intentionally deceptive.

It is not FDA approved as a medication.

It did not go through clinical studies to the level that the FDA requires (not even close to the level of research that was used for a certain vaccine that came out on an expedited timetable.)

Here is a quote from a medical office that arranges clinical trials for such drugs:
“ There is no evidence that ValAsta can cure cancer. However, some laboratory research suggests that an extract from an algae that makes asthaxanthin has slowed the growth of breast and skin cancer cells.

        • I have looked into this now, there are over 1,000 NIH research studies on it. What is the name of the medical office that gave over this incorrect information?

        • The letter writer is kindly sharing info about a very potent supplement that has been shown to heal cancer and has many testimonials and scientific studies.

He probably misspoke when saying that it is FDA approved to heal disease. In USA, it’s illegal for natural substances to heal disease! The FDA approval is for a vitamin supplement. As I just confirmed online – it was approved as a dietary supplement in 1999. It previously was approved for animal feed in 1987.

      • There is a company in E.Y. named Algatech that claims to produce the most advanced form of astaxanthin & has the hechsher of the CRC of Chicago. The product name is Astapure which is resold by bother brands.
I couldn’t find another kosher brand. Obviously, there are heteirim for a choleh to take a non kosher medication but for those just interested in a supplement, it should be kosher.

        • Valasta does not have kosher certification. However, a talmid chochom involved with hashgacha met with the company and investigated and confirmed that all the ingredients used are kosher. It does not contain any chometz as well.

Additionally, the Astaxtanthin produced by Valasta is an algae plant grown in a controlled green-house type of factory, so there is no concern about infestation.

    • Valasta is not promoting this product as a chemo substitute but rather to be used in conjunction with conventional treatments. You will see this clearly on their website. You will also see on their website that it is FDA approved as a supplement. Please be mindful that there are many Cholim awaiting their Yeshuah and if this can help them even slightly, we should be cautious in jumping to conclusions, especially without performing extensive research

    • There is no cure for cancer! Not one that is FDA approved or otherwise. Chemo can shrink a cancer & put someone in “remission”. Now go study what that means.

I dont know much about this product, but with something as serious as cancer, you gotta be a fool to shoo it away if people are saying it has benefitted them. Do more research & may Hashem heal the sick.

      • What if you tried it while doing the treatments from the doctor. No one is saying it’s one or the other. I know someone who when starting Valasta at the same time as chemo treatments was able to keep going to work and run a regular life!

  2. I checked Valasta’s website and could not find any indication of it being FDA approved. Please provide confirmation of FDA approval if it’s in fact FDA approved.

      • The real question is, if you are stupid enough to believe what you were saying, or if you are malicious enough to say what you’re saying?

        • You are grievously wrong. If you have ever watched a close loved one die in agony from cancer and treatments in the 70’s or ALS in agony only in 2017, or if you had cared to find out the real cause of deaths, democide, which revealed through the fine doctors and other practitioners that cure through simple, effective early treatments would destroy the trillions planned to be made on our own democide! Even with the evidence of you of people dying live on video, you can not possibly comprehend the extent of this genocide. Goodness prevails over evil. There is no need to worry, if your intentions are pure; if your heart and your hands are clean. Start your repentance by researching what astaxanthin is, the ingredient in ValAsta. Then apologize for your damning and cruel remarks. Would you refuse a dying man a drop of water? There are many who walk right on by. Let that not be you brother.

    • It’s not.
Its use as a food coloring is approved.

There is no clinical research to back up the claims in this letter.

      The letter is intentionally deceptive.

Wonder if the writer has some sort of financial gain from this

      • Anony Mouse, I am not the letter writer, but he appears to me to be a Yid who sincerely wants to help sick people feel better, the way his uncle BH feels so much better since using Valasta.
I can say for myself, that I have no financial gain from telling everyone here that people I know are BH seeing miracles with people they know who are taking Valasta. I don’t make any money from the sale of Valasta. My motive is to save lives.
I do question your motives, though. You are spending a lot of time and effort to discredit a product which several people here are testifying has helped sick people they know.
And you have no experience with the product yourself.
Why are you so motivated to make people doubt the testimonials and keep those who might gain so much from trying it?
Are you a paid troll, working for the Pharma industry?

    • Look out for all the characteristics, here, make a claim, obfuscate, mislead, and then start the guilt trip when you’re called out for your lies.

If that isn’t the playbook, I’m not sure what it is.

  3. I actually have no problem with a bit of skepticism with mainstream medicine.
I think there are many times alternative treatments have success where doctors have failed. As long as it’s
The red flags for me are when they don’t clearly explain that it is an alternative treatment and when they start claiming it’s a cure-all for a number of different diseases.

    • Even bigger, red flag is when you claim it’s FDA approved. (While shilling it as a medicine, insinuating that there is clinical research, backing it.)

The fact that letter writer doesn’t see an issue with that tells me that they are likely to be the type of person to rub essential oils on somebody after a stroke and tell them it will make them better and they don’t need TPA.

This type of bad faith argument is what makes people not trust any alternative medicine.
There are many alternatives that do work.

      • You are acting distastefully and with poor middos by insinuating that the letter writer is a paid spokesman for the company, rather than what he says he is – a simple Yid telling the story of how something helped his relative, letoeles Haklal. I personally have no doubt that the story he’s telling is true, because it matches all the other stories I am hearing from multiple people I know. Please reserve your cynicism for a place where it isn’t so dangerous.

    • No one is “shilling.” Take it or leave it, people are telling stories of yeshuos in good faith, to help others. Bottom line, there is no equivalent product. You cannot get achieve this therapeutic dosage with other astaxanthin products.

  4. Just because it’s FDA approved, it doesn’t mean that it DOESN’T WORK !!! It is possible that FDA approved can mean something…..sometimes…..
Just because the FDA is partly funded by Big Pharm, it doesn’t mean that they are 100% corrupt. Sometimes they do get it right when they are not compromised.
Just because in the last few decades EVERY FDA Commissioner (except one) ended up as a CEO in a Big Pharm company doesn’t mean they are ALL corrupt. Sometimes that one lonely commissioner who did not end up as a CEO might still have a chance……

  5. So this article links to a site where you can purchase this item for $150-$250, when on Amazon you can but the same ingredient for $18? Sounds like a money-making scheme to me…

    • The difference between your average astaxanthin and Valasta is huge. The chemist who made valasta restored the astaxanthan back to it’s original biological form by re-attaching a glucose molecule that gets destroyed during the extraction process. It took him 3 years to figure out how to do this. By re-attaching the glucose molecule, it makes the Valasta HIGHLY absorbable unlike standard astaxanthin supplements. He patented the process so until the patent runs out, Valasta is the only form of astaxanthin with this potency.

  6. I’m shocked TLS would print this. The author doesn’t come off as a “Snake Oil Salesman” They literally ARE a “Snake Oil Salesman”!!!

  7. BS”D
Those who are writing nasty comments may have blood on their hands. I am personally in contact with multiple people who are B”H PERSONALLY seeing miracles happening with patients they know who are taking Valasta. The foolishness of people who know NOTHING about a product but would choose to cynically bash it, is mind boggling. To dispel the main fallacy I see being posted, NO, other astaxanthin products are NOT EQUIVALENT. They are NOT likely to give the amazing results that B”H Valasta does. The reason that Valasta is unique is because it is made with a patented process which makes it 500-600X more absorbable.
If you would choose to take the cheaper products, you would spend the same amount of money, because you would have to take so much of the product to get the equivalent of the Valasta dose. It would not even be practical.

    • Moderator, can you please repost my comment without the link I included at the end? Someone has a concern and asked me to remove the article link. Thank you so much!

    • It might actually work, I don’t know.

The tactics you are using, have all the hallmarks of scam.

As I am sure that you are aware, the reason it does not require clinical trials is because it is not being marketed as a drug and is being marked as supplement instead.

If it actually works, then why are you resorting to the bad faith tactics that you have engaged in.
Your argument would be a lot more persuasive if you were actually upfront about the reality.

If it does not actually work (and I am not saying it doesn’t, I am just saying the data don’t support your claims), then you have blood on your hands if anybody relies on this instead of going the route currently recommended by doctors (which for the types of cancers that there is even any level of data concerning valAsta/asthaxantin the current standard treatment is very effective for, and the side effects aren’t that bad)

      • Strange. You accuse me of a scam, of “bad faith,” and not being upfront? Not sure what you’re referring to. I make nothing off of Valsta, but I said that people are seeing miracles BH.
What bad faith or isn’t upfront?
I think you are the one acting in bad faith. I believe you are paid to troll here.
Also, I NEVER said that anyone should do this instead of standard treatments.

  8. I am an “alternative” guy and very open-minded to things that are “out there”. Just a word of caution to folks reading this:

Make sure to research and take note what potential side effects might be prior to jumping into things with both feet.

  9. Valasta is a very powerful antioxidant that attacks the free radicals in the body. These free radicals cause inflammation in the body, and it is known that many illnesses are caused by inflammation in the body. Check out the website valasta.net for more information on this.

  10. I have also heard of people being helped with Valasta. While I am prone to skepticism, I would also not ignore that which circulates by word of mouth from people I trust. I think it’s the kind of thing that those that are open to new ideas will be the early beneficiaries here. This product is not claiming to be the miracle drug with hidden ingredients. From my research, it is simply a natural algae that certain species have always reaped the anti inflammatory benefits from, but was now formulated by a scientist to a format that is more absorbable to the human body. You can easily make claims that it is or is not FDA approved based on your biases but this can be easily proven with a little research.

  11. Valasta is different than the cheaper astaxanthin products that you can buy on Amazon because it is made differently. Microbiologist Sam Shepherd spent eight years developing this product so that the astaxanthin contained therein would go directly to the body’s cells, pass through the blood brain barrier and get utilized by the body in the most effective way (using a reattached glucose molecule to astaxanthin, and putting it in a liposomal form). More detailed information on this can be found on the website valasta.net. (In addition if you calculate the amount of astaxanthin in each bottle and compare it to the product you can buy on Amazon, you will see that it actually works out cheaper or at an equivalent cost.)

The bottom line is that frum people (and others) are using it and seeing amazing results, baruch Hashem. (Did you ever notice that when a cancer patient is niftar, lo alienu, after going through chemo and/or radiation, no one says that chemo and radiation must be “snake oil”? We all know that Hashem is the One Who is in charge of life and death.)

Valasta has been proven to work for some people who are suffering from many different conditions. It is certainly worth a try because it is totally safe. It is a very powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, which are things we ingest every day when we eat certain foods. Please do your own research on this product before you post comments against it. Thank you. Refuah shelaima bkarov to all who are in need!

    • I think you just proved the point of the naysayers.

If a legit microbiologist (whom you claim Sam Shepard is) developed a product with a new technique so that the active chemical is absorbed differently, than any major or lesser pharmaceutical company would be more than glad to pay him moving some dollars and then cover the cost of the clinical trials, and then set it up in a way that insurance companies will pay for it.

I don’t know that your motives are impure, I do know that the way you’re pushing it stinks like a scam.

  12. Sloan Kettering and Mayo Clinic Rochester no longer offer radiation or chemo… or any other types of treatments for cancer… they just have huge Valasta dispensers in their lobbies and you can take as many as you like and your cancer is gone in a few days… all the inflammation and free radicals just go away. No one even dies from cancer anymore. Medical schools aren’t even going to be having doctors specializing in oncology anymore- thank you Valasta for solving cancer and every other disease due to inflammation and free radicals.

    • The Valasta website does not make any claims that the product will cure cancer. The website does not tell anyone not to take cancer treatments. People who have been taking Valasta along with their cancer treatments are noticing that they are feeling much better and have more energy than they ever had before taking Valasta, BH. (There is info on the website on how Valasta can “help” with cancer but no where does it say that it will “cure” cancer.) Please take the time to review the website thoroughly.

  13. Amazing story! BH there are real treatments out there that help. I’ve heard about this product but you have to be careful where you buy it from. There are many poor quality brands out there that don’t work and will start rumors that Valasta doesn’t work. The brand mentioned in this article is top quality

  14. This is one of those cases where something that has truth to it is being exaggerated.

Yes, there are a number of studies from reputable medical researchers published in reputable medical journals that Astaxanthin (the active ingredient in Valasta) helps reduce the spread of some cancers and that in conjunction with chemo can slightly speed up recovery as well as reduce some of chemo’s side effects. But it is not a miracle cure and attempts to solely use Astaxanthin as a cure on its own have thus far failed.

It is an anti-inflammatory, and can therefore potentially be useful for arthritis and some other things.

And yes Astaxanthin is “FDA approved” but it is only approved for direct consumption for animals and is commonly used as feed for farmed salmon which otherwise would look grey instead of the bright pink we expect for salmon. Since some of this will obviously pass to people who eat the salmon there are guidelines for what amounts are considered safe for people to ingest and the EU equivalent of the FDA considers 0.2 mg per KG of body weight a safe daily dose.

However, depending on each individual’s situation, you might need to ask a shaila about taking it in various forms since it is usually extracted from shellfish.

Now as to the website for “Valasta” that was linked to, as some earlier commenters have mentioned they are selling Astaxanthin for a much higher price than can be found on Amazon or various other websites selling supplements which from what I can tell does appear to be the case. And while they claim their version is “better” they bring no quality evidence that their version actually is better and the price difference between their version and other versions is not trivial.

    • My son had a terrible tushy rash for a few days. None of the medications prescribed by the Doctor worked. I tried Valasta & it worked immediately!!!
      Its Mamish a wonder drug!!!

    • Well said!

If the author of this “infomercial“ had written instead, that he was recruiting other people for a clinical trial, because he had a family member who needed such a trial as their only hope, and there was a minimum number of people for the requirements for the trial I would be more sympathetic.

    • Why would you pretend to be an expert, saying there’s “some validity but it’s exaggerated,” when you have no experience with the product, and those who are testifying DO have experience?
And why would you question the kashrus without looking at the website and seeing that Valasta is KOSHER – as it’s made from ALGAE?

    • No, local doctors have better things to do with their time, than debunking hogwash.

The unproven hypothesis, is that certain compounds in this algae might be able to slow the growth of certain breast cancers, and skin cancers.
Baruch Hashem, the survival rates of these cancers have been climbing as advances are made within the medical research fields.
There are literally dozens of not hundreds of claims like this made every year about many different “natural” or “alternative” or “holistic” medicines.
When you research them, you find that there is no real data to back them up, but in the fine print they are labeled as “supplements” so they are not banned by the FDA.

While some of these “cures” may actually work, there’s only anecdotal evidence backing them up, and no clinical trials.

Unfortunately, it costs millions of dollars to actually do the necessary clinical trials.
Therefore, only massive pharmaceutical companies can afford to do such a clinical trials. Now, obviously, they won’t spend that money on something that you can grow in your own fish pond.
However, the claim here is that it is modified, in which case there should be plenty of Capital available to do the necessary clinical trials.
Therefore, my assessment is that on the scale from no way to likely, this is a solid implausible.

      • I would suggest that you do more research on this. It sounds like you are putting this into a “alternative” bucket that it must not work because it doesn’t come from a pharmacy.

I actually did extensive research on this, and there are many scientific studies that show that Astaxanthin helps against cancer in many ways. There are also many testimonials out there of people with all stages of cancer that have been helped by Valasta.

In summary, astaxanthin has a unique chemical structure that allows it to turn off the cancer cells ability to hide from the immune system.

It also is able to penetrate the interior of the cell and weaken cancer cells, and protect and heal the healthy cells.

Unlike many other supplements and medicines, astaxanthin can cross the blood brain barrier and help with brain cancers too like glioblastoma.

This is why Astaxanthin works so well alongside other treatments.

When taken with chemo and/or radiation, the medicine is much more potent against the cancer cells, since they are weaker from the Valasta. Astaxanthin also protects the healthy cells from the devastating side effects and some of the long term effects from chemo and radiation. Many times, this results in the person needing less sessions of chemo to achieve the same result.

There are also people that take Valasta without chemo, if chemo isn’t an option or not required.

    • I have a friend who asked her oncologist if it’s safe for her to take while doing chemo treatment and he said it can’t harm, it could only help. I can’t publish his name because doctors aren’t able to support supplements, therefore it they would say it at all they would only say it privately.

  15. I ordered a bottle and it does say FDA approved on the bottle. I believe it is FDA approved as a safe food supplement. Let’s be Dan L’kaf Zchus, the writer must’ve misunderstood this FDA approval concept

  16. Physician comment: This product is very safe and a natural adjunctive medical grade extract which demonstrates an effective and beneficial treatment modality that helps with inflammatory conditions. Cancer is only one defective disorganized reaction that can quickly “grow” out of control. No one is suggesting that you stop other treatment, but this product has helped so many people and improved their quality of life. There are many non-traditional treatments that have been possibly intentionally suppressed since the alternatives are way more lucrative.

  17. 1. Keep in mind that comments against natural cures are often from people paid to write such comments. Good natural cures are very bad for the pharmaceutical business.

    2. No natural product will ever be approved by the FDA to cure cancer. The FDA is totally in the pocket of big pharma. Search for “Regulatory Agency Revolving Door” for more details. The FDA requires very expensive studies to prove that something is effective as a cure. Generally only patented drugs bring in enough money to pay for those studies.

    3. If you want to know if a natural is worthwhile, there are sometimes smaller studies, or natural practitioners that have good results, or you can look at the science presented by the company. But don’t expect the FDA to come to the rescue. They won’t.

  18. I have a relative who has cancer who is taking Valasta.
It is in addition to the standard of care (chemo, radiation, anti seizure meds, blood transfusions, etc), not instead of. The oncologist team was not against it.
May it be the Will of Hashem that all of the Cholim have a refuah shlaima

  19. I dont get it. If you are skeptical I totally understand but what hurt could there be to try it and take a chance especially if there aren’t too many other good options. If it doesn’t work for someone it is not like the patient is gonna be in worse shape.

    • So true there are no known side affects from Valasta . Why is everyone getting so hot under the collar what do you care if someone is sharing a supplement that seemed to have helped his uncle. Does it bother you if others take it and see the same results?

  20. The downside would be if people try using this instead of going to actual oncologists and following their recommendations and then die because they were sure that Valasta and only Valasta would cure their cancer (aside from their tefillos). If you want to try this plus lots of vitamin B12 along with whatever your actual oncologists are recommending, wonderful. Try chewing on hickory root too and lots of ginger. But whatever you do don’t stop the radiation and whatever necessary treatments are being proscribed by actual medical professionals and rely on what you read as anecdotal evidence on a website. Not everyone who is trying to stop people from dying by stopping their life saving treatments are all paid off by big pharma. Some people, hard as it may be to believe, just don’t want other Jews to die because they believed alternative medicines were their only chance to rid themselves of cancer and discarded actual known, proven methods.

  21. At the end of the day each person could make their own decision how they want to treat their sickness. They could choose which doctor to use , and which plan of treatment they are the most comfortable with. They can decide if they want to take any supplements and which ones.Every person is in charge of themselves. It’s silly to argue what people should do because that’s really up to each individual person . The point is that the sick person should know all his options so he can make the most educated decision. Everyone knows that even best doctors don’t always know everything so they’ll go for a second opinion. It’s good to hear from other what has worked so you the. could do your own research and make the most educated decisions. H’ should heal all his children.

  22. It’s so odd to me that someone who knows nothing about a product and its benefits would deign to attack it with a bulldozer.
Does it really bother you so much that people are having success with valasta?
Your comments and attitude are way out of proportion, enough to make you seriously suspect.
Allow me to describe my experience with valasta .
I have suffered from migraine associated vertigo for many years.
There are meds that took the edge off it , enough for me to get out of bed, but are far from a cure .
I started taking valasta a few weeks ago and am experiencing a great deal of relief BH. I can now bend my head down without feeling sick, something that would normally put me out of commission for hours.
I also burnt my hand last week which resulted in red swelling and a very obvious burn mark. Having read that valasta was good for healing open wounds I decided to smear some on my hand . Within 10 minutes the pain was gone . I washed the valasta off a couple of hours later and there was absolutely no evidence of a burn whatsoever. The hand looked perfect, with no burn marks. I was astounded .

Honest anecdotal evidence is very powerful and bears paying close attention to .

  23. Every sick person can make their own decision. which doctor to use. Which treatment plan to follow. Which supplements he wants to take .it’s important for the sick person to be aware of all his option so he can make the most educated decision. The writer isn’t forcing anyone to take Valasta he’s simply sharing his experience in case you would want to choose the same .

  24. I have migraines very frequently to the point that I have to stay in bed and cancel the rest of my day. I was told by several friends that Valasta may be helpful. After ordering some and taking lots of it, I can say 100 percent that it did absolutely nothing for my migraines. Whether or not it will cure your cancer, I have no idea. It may work some autoimmune disorders. If anyone wants to buy some at a huge discount, I’d be more than happy to sell what I have.

    • It’s doesn’t always work so quickly depending on what’s going on inside of you. Like when asking someone how long will the drive be to your house ,the answers will always be it depends. Depends how far they are from your house . Obviously results will be different depending on what’s going on inside of you. Some people it could take longer for results.

    • Shoshi, it depends on the cause of migraines. If the pain is related to inflammation, then it’s likely Valasta would help. If it’s not, then Valasta may not help. As someone else mentioned, you may need to take it for longer.

I personally get terrible headaches from eating food that contains folic acid (the synthetic vitamin). Folic acid is added to many foods such as white flour, white rice, fortified cereals and even some gluten free rice pasta.

It’s important for you to figure out what is the source of your migraines. Going on a vegan diet, and then adding back foods may help you figure out the triggers. Muscle testing may also help you determine root cause.

I would be happy to buy your bottle of Valasta. Please reach out to [email protected], and they will put you in touch with me.

      Hatzlocha!!
