[COMMUNICATED] Lakewood Business Link hosted the latest in its series of networking events this past Monday evening, August 24th in the Reception Gallery of The Strand Theater in historical Downtown Lakewood. The topic presented at the event was Workforce Management and featured two seasoned executives in the field of Human Resources.
Mr. Neal Dick, Director of HR at Astor Chocolates highlighted the need for hiring managers and companies to understand the job market, the position, and provided tips to help find the best candidate for the specific position. He also discussed the importance of proper training, feedback at regular intervals and empowering your employees.
Mr. Amitai Levin, Director of HR at Tender Touch Rehab Services, focused on the importance of HR compliance, health and other insurance, and getting the most out of your benefits package. He also spoke about the challenges facing businesses in our community including the demand for flexible working schedules etc. and presented various options to deal with those challenges.
The event attracted many newcomers and included many regulars. Mr. Alex Lowinger, Managing Director of Small Business Services at LCSC, commented on how engaged the crowd was posing many questions to the presenters and making it a very interactive presentation. Participants continue to provide positive feedback and comments on the high caliber of the presenters and their presentations.
Lakewood Business Link is a joint initiative by the Lakewood Development Corporation’s (LDC) Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) economic development program and the Lakewood Community Services Corporation’s (LCSC) Small Business Services division.
The purpose of the networking events are to provide local entrepreneurs and business owners, sales people, professionals, bankers and job seekers the opportunity to network with each other in an informal setting. It also provides a forum to learn about relevant business topics, share problems and solutions, brainstorm for ideas, get new leads and build alliances. This is a free program funded by the UEZ.
