Despite the 3-month free trial coming to an end and the Lakewood shuttle service now charging $1 for rides, ridership has not declined, indicating it’s quite convenient to hop onto a bus.
“In this second week since the beginning of fare collections, we continue to see steady ridership on both the Westgate and Industrial Park routes,” says Lakewood Economic Developer Director Steven Reinman.
Sales of multi-ride punch cards – where the rider gets 12 rides for $10 – have been brisk, with over 50 cards sold as of last week, says Reinman.
“Regular work or school commuters are seeing the value in buying these cards and reaping two free rides for every 10 paid rides,” Reinman said.
The cards are available from the drivers on the buses, and will soon be available on the Lakewood Shuttle website as well.

New schedules are being produced and should be made publically available soon.

Has there been less traffic since the busing started?
as usually, Steve is the one with the right vision for the town’s growth. kudos!
agree with S W, has there been less traffic since busing started??
Why is 50 punch cards considered brisk? In a town of nearly 100k shouldn’t more people be buying and riding?
I would just like to update this article… One week and a day into the service we have sold over 200 punchcards which are actually used on a regular basis. Each punch card costs $10 and contains 12 rides which is a savings of $2. The cards can be purchased on the bus for exact chance or in the office at BMG for cash or check. We are having a new website built. When it goes live, there will be an option to purchase online with a credit card, shipped free. Flyers will be updated soon. And times of each bus arrival will be posted at each ‘L’ stop for better clarification in the near future. For live updates follow us on Twitter @lakewoodshuttle. dunno about the traffic, but its a great service for families with only one car.
my common sense tells me there should actually be less traffic, but we wish we could get the exact schedule for every day and also the correct place of the bus stops, it would really help the whole community, thank you.
Why it run on countyline in the near future? And stop by the wawa and all along countyline?
James, Prospect, Spruce, High, Sterling, Chateau, Presidential, Chestnut, also need service.
This is very exciting for our family and I’m sure many other Lakewood one car families. Please continue to improve this service and introduce more routes. I would love more routes from lexington to industrial park areas after 9.
