Lakewood took advantage of the ASD diagnosis and now kids who really have it are denied continued coverage for 08701 as of open enrollment November
Lakewood is beyond repair but keep it all in Lakewood. Don’t let this garbage infiltrate the other towns and the other boards and the other local governments.
What is “this garbage”?

All new shuls, schools, shopping centers and developments are approved without having enough parking spaces and turning lanes to allow traffic to flow. There are MANY congested roads around town that would be smooth sailing traffic if only they wouldn’t allow building so close to the road and instead add a turning lane.
Many of those shopping centers are in areas where alot of people walk to them. There was no thought about the walkers.
There was no thought about walkers because until recently there were hardly any walkers to shopping centers in Lakewood. There was some pedestrian activity in the downtown areas and the streets around there, but most people drove to other areas. In more recent years people who don’t drive have been walking in areas that barely had any pedestrians. I’ve been living in Lakewood for almost 50 years. Lakewood is a suburb and pedestrian activity is relatively new here.
When WestGate was build they bragged how having shopping in the development would cut down traffic because people could walk there, they forgot to include all those walkers when building the center. Evergreen shopping center was build after all the houses in Oak and Vine was approved, yet no thought of all the people living there that would walk to the shopping center.
All children should be required to attend the community school in their area. Then noone has to travel across town and cause traffic buildup

Traffic is obviously a massive issue. I would open up any dead end (cul de sac) that can possibly be opened. Also, close off Caranetta where it meets central ave!
PLEASE- A pedestrian bridge over Route 70 along Vermont- to SAFELY bridge the gap- young children walking alone to school, places of worship and to friends homes, women with babies and strollers, teens biking across- we’ve already had a number of tragedies and it’s time to do something about it before it’s too late GD forbid.
Route 70 is a highway. Young children and probably even adults should not be walking there! If you came from the city, you can’t expect the same conditions here as you had back home.
There are many problems in Lakewood and whoever wants to see any or all of them fixed should vote for Moshe Raitzik
Cheaper tuition and better transportation
Lower Mechitzas to alleviate the Shidduch crisis.

1 thing that’s easy and will help. Enforce parking rules and make people put back garbage’s after pickup it will cut out a ton of traffic for busses and general congestion

Seriously. What’s going on with the empty new construction there?
It was sold and cleared almost a decade ago. The development was nearly complete 3 years ago? Every other development in that area of 70 has been or is nearly complete. Was it a financing issue because I can’t believe that a permit issue could be holding up the construction.
Distribute fines to all those that don’t put away there garbage cans after pick up. Some roads are narrow enough without the garbage cans being there
This is to The Lakewood Scoop: why do we harp on the Lakewood problems? Isn’t there much more good than bad over here? Why don’t we talk about all the good that we have in Lakewood…
Lakewood doesn’t get enough respect. We are barely on the maps, Toms River is always way more visible than us. We hardly get any state funding. And just in general most people in New Jersey don’t realize that we are the 4th biggest city in the state.
What’s the solution? We need to change the name of the town to Lakewood City. This will subconsciously lodge in everyone’s mind that we are very big and important.
On the United Airlines in-flight map, Toms River comes up in big letters. Lakewood doesn’t show up at all.
That’s because Toms River is the county seat.

This is the umpteenth time this is being addressed here. Does it make a difference what people think? Bottom line is, there’s an element of greed in Lakewood where people make a lot of money developing properties without putting into consideration how it affects the area. It doesn’t look like it’s stopping any time soon.
The developers do what they do because that is their business. I blame the local government who is supposed to act in our best interests for allowing the developers to build more and more and for giving out variances like candy on Simchas Torah. The developers are doing their job. The government is NOT doing its job, which is to control the development.
stop and give traffic tickets to people who drive on the left side of the street. After over 50 years here, Lakewood still scares me.
We need to drain the lake, get rid of the college and put roads and housing where those things are, outlaw gated communities and comlexes that cause traffic, and open up Arlington to pine, finish vine and connect it, another road besides clover going through the park area, that’s just the start there’s a lot more to do.
Drain the lake, put roads through the college, build more roads, another road besides clover to get to other side of lakewood, a bridge over the lake if not drained, less dead ends more through roads.
Please, please do not ruin our beautiful lake! It’s one of the only physically beautiful things still left in Lakewood. Nothing can justify draining the lake or even building a bridge over it.
