Ahead of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and cold winter months, the Lakewood Police Department (LPD) and Lakewood Community Coalition (LCC) are pleased to announce that they will once again be hosting a soup kitchen and coat drive.
The event will take place on Saturday, November 14th, between 10:00 am and Noon, in Town Square (3rd Street and Clifton Ave). Hot soup, as well as jackets and coats, will be available at no cost to the public.
The coat distribution relies substantially on donations from the general public. New or gently used jackets and coats, in all sizes and styles, can be dropped off 24/7 from now through Friday, November 13th at the donation bin in the LPD Headquarters lobby, on 231 3rd Street.
“Lakewood can be proud of its Police Department; the LCC; and other communal and nonprofit partners; for arranging yet another event to benefit the underprivileged among us,” says Township Committeeman and Emergency Services Liaison Meir Lichtenstein. “These men and women see public service as a goal, rather than a job, and go above and beyond the call of duty to fulfill that.”
