Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer: We’re seeing nearly 100% compliance with Governor’s orders

Lakewood Police Chief Greg Meyer today said the Department is seeing nearly 100% compliance with Governor Murphy’s orders during this coronavirus lock-down.

“Our officers have visited local stores, banquet halls, parks and other spaces, and what we’ve seen so far from our residents is nearly 100% compliance,” Chief Meyer said. “We are grateful that the community as a whole is working together to ensure social distancing and following the Governor’s orders.

Lakewood Police Department thanks you and wishes the best to our residents.”

  1. Thank you!

Its sad that some politicians think its ok to single out an entire town & make a public statement that one person didn’t listen.

99.9% of Lakewooders are only going out for essential grocery shopping and Dr/Pharmacy.

    • Less than 100 yrs ago we were also accused of spreading disease, where did that end up?
It is dangerous and unacceptable for a public figure and servant of the people to publicize individual incidents that are high risk and in this case for certain smearing a whole community. When someone says “Lakewood” they don’t just mean the name of the town.

      • I dont know what was meant and I beleive it may have been misguided, but when 99% of people outside the community hear “Lakewood” they don’t just hear the name of the town. This doesn’t just apply to Lakewood, but to any community with a majority of any ethnic or religious group. It passes more easily when there isn’t a crisis. But in a situation such as this, where alot of people will jump at the opportunity to name a scapegoat. It is hard to beleive that someone reviewed this statement and thought it to be a neutral and harmless message meant to motivate people in only a positive way.

  2. Maybe the Police chief could call in to 101.5 since its seems that a few callers are saying that Lakewood stores, shuls are all open for business. Seems that these callers have not driven around this town because when I went to grocery store its like a ghost town. Driving into town down central ave which is usually very backed up is a breeze. Thanks to everyone in the community for staying home and only going out for essential needs.

  3. It’s incredible how APP will pick up the one noncompliant little thing and blow it out of proportion because their agenda of sowing hate and dismay towards our community is something they relish.

Do a flyover by drone and you will see proof of absolute compliance everywhere.
