The following is an ‘Ask The Chief’ question submitted to TLS, and the Chief’s response. Email your questions for the Chief to [email protected].
Question:
Dear Chief,
Thanks for all you do for Lakewood residents. I am often stuck at the Prospect/Cross corner during high-traffic times. Waiting to get onto Cross from Prospect can take about 15 minutes. What adds to the frustration is when cars go up Prospect on the left turn only lane and then cut in front of the whole line that’s waiting and make a right turn. This happens MULTIPLE times EVERY TIME I wait at that corner. It’s not a one time thing. It’s an easy way to beat the traffic. It’s illegal, it’s inconsiderate, and makes all the people waiting to make right turns legally wait even longer. What can be done to stop this behavior?
Thank you again!
The Chief’s response:
Thank you for your question and we will be sure to keep an eye out for violators.

I am there every day too and sit for a few minutes waiting to make a right. I think there should either be an all way stop sign or a light should be installed there since there are cars turning right and left onto cross, while others are trying to make lefts onto prospect from Cross and there are also cars coming from Faraday trying to make left or right onto Cross as well, all at the same time and it’s quite the mess.
we can thank the zoning board for all these intense traffic issues, they cause much agmas nefesh to lacewoods residents everyday, by rubber stamping irresponsible developments. My mail man asked the other day why do you guys tolerate this, they have destroyed your town why don’t you vote for change, i had nothing to tell the guy, but he’s right
Same frustration by the light at Route 9 X cross, many cars use the right-only turn lane to cut through and go straight. The Lakewood police department has made their stance clear that they have no interest in enforcing traffic laws. It’s time we get together and contact the OPIA.
this happens every morning at New Hampshire and the 88 also. These drivers think they can cut everyone off.
That street , as well as James and Cross and the infamous White and cross are a nightmare and have been a nightmare for a long time SOMEBODY PLEASE DO SOMETHING!
speak to the rabunim that keep endorsing our committee men, that have done nothing to stop the irresponsible devlopemnt
If not for them, you and I would have nowhere to live. If you don’t like the crowding, move away….
Sure you would. In a safely developed neighborhood.
you sound like a tipish! did you ever learn baba basra? its full of zoning laws, hilchos shcheinim was made so people can live side by side with good quality of life
Hair will grow on the palms of your hands Before the lakewood police do something about it or any traffic violations for that matter
Lakewood doesn’t have enough police officers to handle the job. The would need at least one police officer at probably 50% ot Lakewood intersections, for several hours a day.
That’s true. However, if everyone knows that the police are out there, enforcing the law, they would automatically be more aware.
HAHAHAHA ignorance is bliss.
Looking at the comments it seems like a lot of you hate living in Lakewood, wondering why the prices of homes don’t decrease only the opposite, must be that all you want is just complain about the issues, if you really don’t like this town your more then welcome to sell your house (for good money) and leave, we will replace you with someone that can appreciate what we DO have not what we don’t!!
