Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles Responds to Your ‘Ask The Mayor’ Questions: South Lake Issues; Response to LPD from Waza

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Dear Sir:
Thank you for making yourself available to the people of Lakewood. Its unusual and very much appreciated.
I live on South Lake drive and have several requests.

1. Since the entrance to central avenue has a concrete island it is difficult to turn from central avenue and there should be no parking for at least 6 ca lengths on each side. (the cars parked there are mostly non-residents and are stored there by the repair shop).

2. This has become a high speed runway (shortcut)and should be marked with 25 mph lit up signs like Carronettta and a stop sign at south lake drive and freemen since children live and play on this street.

3. The street lights on the lake do not work and I have called countless times. It would also be nice if the rest of the path had some lishts.

Finally, the wood enclosures around the pond are rotting and it is dangerous because the children play there and are not protected from falling in.
Thanking you in advance for looking into this matter.

Response from Mayor Coles:

Good afternoon

This area falls under the jurisdiction of the state, county & township. I forwarded your letter to our engineer and asked them to reach out to the appropriate agencies to review these issues

Thanks

Ray

Yes!!! There’s nothing more frustrating than using waze and being taken directly onto a blocked off street

In addition to having Waze update closed roads can the township put up a web page listing all the closures for that day that are planned
