Lakewood Mayor Ray Coles responds to your ‘Ask The Mayor’ questions: Overgrown Grass

The following is an ‘Ask The Mayor’ question submitted to TLS, and the Mayor’s response. Email your questions for the Mayor to [email protected].

Question:

Mayor,

I have previously called and left a message with township of public works. I live at 860 Vermont Ave. I have a significant amount Of township property to walk on sidewalk to get to other homes. The township has not come to cut this since BEFORE the summer. The weeds are monstrous and covering the sidewalk to the point near a utility pole they are so large and covering that I cannot even push a single stroller through. What does it take for the township to come and properly take care of this land regularly? I see grass getting cut all over town and the park behind my house. But not on Vermont Ave. This isn’t just this year but every year they cut in spring before things really grow and well after summer. This is really frustrating since we pay a fortune in taxes.

Thank you

Response from Mayor Coles:

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

While there is a mixture of township & privately owned lots along that stretch, the township will get out there and take care of it ASAP. It was not previously on the list to be maintained. Our public works director has added it to the list & it should not become overgrown again.

Stay Safe

  1. The lake???? I won’t be surprised to heard that the county is in charge of that like everything else around here. Traffic lights, let’s check with the county. Potholes everywhere, let’s check with the county. Municipal building still closed, let’s check with the county. Sorry for the sarcasm
