Question:
Hi i live on Glen avenue South area. And I’m wondering why the township is putting in new sidewalks where no one really has an issue with or requested it. Instead The money should be used to pave our streets, which are in very bad shape with many potholes damaging our cars.and make things difficult to go down the block?
Thanks
Response from Mayor Coles:
Good morning
First, to address your concern about paving, Glenn Av is on our Fall Paving Schedule. If we don’t run into any weather related delays, it should be done by the end of the year.
Sidewalks are a safety issue. Lakewood has a huge pedestrian population, and our main concern is for their safety. When a street receives sidewalks for the first time, the walks and curbs must be put in before paving so that proper drainage and other improvements are in place for final paving.
Tale care
Ray
Question:
First of all, thank you for responding to my concerns in the past regarding pedestrian safety in Lakewood. we are senior citizens but the reality is that pedestrian safety should be a concern for all of Lakewood’s citizens.
I am pleased at the recent upgrades in terms of crosswalks, crossing signal and traffic lights. In fact, from my recent appointment at Invision Eyecare, I was able to cross River AV and Honey Locust and walk on sidewalks all the way to Seagull Square – a big change!
However, to get to the crossing signal button and crosswalk to cross River AV, I had to either walk in the street facing fast moving cars or walk on the grass by the the car wash.
Neither option is good for senior citizens and it will only get more dangerous once when the weather gets cold.
Why not complete the improvement and make a sidewalk from Invision Eyecare to River AV?
Please, check this out yourself and try to get this taken care of.
Thank you for everything.
Mrs. Z. K.
Resident of the Enclave
Response from Mayor Coles:
