Hi Mr Mayor,
To start, thank you for all that you do for our town! It is clear that you go above and beyond on a daily basis to ensure that everything runs smoothly.
I wanted to bring up a driving issue that I’m surprised does not get more attention on this platform. The street in question is Cross Street. Specifically Cross x James and Cross x Prospect. This area is extremely problematic during high traffic times. Being a frequent of cross Street I observed 2 issues that can potentially be fixed quite easily. The first is installing a turning lane for the cars making a left turn from cross southbound on to James Street. Often times there are larger vehicles turning left which block the rest of the cars from going around and can at times cause an entire light to go to waste.
The second suggestion is to combine the green lights from James/Franklin. The light turns green separately for both sides and I see this as a wasted opportunity for the cars proceeding down cross Street.
I hope you take these suggestions in to account as I’ve spent many extra time in traffic that seems more easily avoidable.
Thank you again for everything you do for our town!
Response from Mayor Coles:
Thank you for taking the time to write. Cross Street is a county road. We have been working with the county to get Cross widened and many intersections improved. They are getting ready to begin the first phase, hopefully this spring. That being said we are hoping to get them to increase the scope and timing of the project.
