Question: Dear Mayor,
Thank you for all your work on the township’s behalf and your interest in the day to day goings on.
The intersection at Chestnut and New Hampshire is a busy, difficult one to turn from, and unfortunately a common site of accidents.
Making a left turn out of Chestnut into NEw Hampshire necessitates crossing 2 busy lanes of traffic into lanes that are often blocked by other cars closer to Route 70 creating a hazardous situation for the drivers. There is also often backup on to Chestnut for quite some time as drivers edge closely waiting for a safe window to turn.
A concave mirror on New Hampshire, facing Chestnut is an easy solution to this problem. There is one on 14th street near Case Road, and it is very helpful for drivers at a far less busy intersection.
If drivers would be able to see oncoming traffic from the 70 to New Hampshire, I think much of the danger and delays would be taken care of.
Please consider some form of solution to this intersection.
Thanks for all your work!
Response from Mayor Coles: Good morning,
I agree with your assessment of that intersection. I know the county is working with the state to design a light & redesign that entire intersection. I never thought of a mirror there. I will ask if they will allow one to be installed.
Thanks
