Question:
Hi Mr Mayor,
Thank you for your time,
Recently a box junction has been painted at the intersection of Chestnut St. and New Hampshire Ave., allowing cars the opportunity to turn from Chestnut when the light at the 70 and New Hampshire is red.
We really need such a box junction at this corner:
This intersection is used by drivers, driving east on the 70 trying to turn left onto New Hampshire. The light backs up and it’s been getting tougher and tougher making that left turn.
Thank you.
Response from Mayor Coles:
Hello,
I agree with you that significant Improvements need to be made where the Rt 70 exit meets New Hampshire. I am forwarding your suggestion to our engineering department. I will ask them to get in touch with the County, since New Hampshire is a County road, and see if we can have the box painted in or come up with some other idea to make this intersection safer. Thank you for reaching out.
Ray

Just build a jug handle on the opposite side of the intersection so rt 70 eb traffic trying to make. A left doesn’t have to cross over new Hampshire traffic
Agreed 100% I even spike to the county suggesting a jug on the other said which is the obvious safest way. They basically told me go jump in the lake. Maybe with enough pressure they can get it done.
Poor space management, inviting more and more residents. “If you can’t measure it, you can’t improve it”
A box junction is desperately needed at squankum and Kennedy. People are very rude there and drive however they please. Total chaos.
