A Lakewood man was arrested after reporting to police a fabricated armed robbery incident. On April 9, 2015, Ocean Township Officer Christopher Brady responded to a commercial business in Ocean Plaza in regards to an armed robbery that was purported to have occurred the previous night.
Upon arrival, Officer Brady spoke with Christopher Angelil who reported that at approximately 9:45 pm the night prior he was accosted and robbed at gunpoint of cash and a cell phone while exiting the ATM drive up window at the Bank of America.
However, a subsequent follow up investigation by Detective Matthew Jackiewicz revealed that Mr. Angelil had fabricated the robbery, police said.
On Friday June 26, Mr. Angelil was placed under arrest at the Township of Ocean Police Headquarters and charged with filing a false police report. Mr. Angelil was released on a complaint summons and is scheduled to appear at a future court hearing.
