The Lakewood Fire Department has ordered a brand new Rehab Unit to replace their aging, 23-year-old Pierce Salvage Unit (pictured below).
Chief Yahr told TLS, “The new truck will be more affordable and easier for us to maintain as it is smaller and better suited for the department’s needs.”
The new truck, a Ford F600, will be operated by Lakewood EMS during large fire incidents and will be stocked with medical and rehab equipment to monitor and treat firefighters during emergencies.
“The cooperation of Lakewood EMS, providing manpower during large incidents to staff this apparatus, significantly impacts our operations.” Yahr added.
The delivery of the new truck is not expected for at least a year.
