The Lakewood Fire Department provided coverage for the Silverton section this afternoon, allowing Silverton Fire Company members to attend the funeral of Chief John Keating’s wife, Ursula “Sandie” Keating, who was tragically killed this past weekend when a vehicle crashed into the outdoor dining area of Meg’s Grill in Lavallette.

Lakewood firefighters joined sister companies Pleasant Plains Fire Department and East Dover Fire Department in providing coverage while Silverton members attended the funeral and paid their respects to the Keating family.

The Silverton Fire Company expressed its sincere appreciation to all three departments for their support, as well as for the outpouring of thoughts and kindness shown to the company and the Keating family during this difficult time.

“Your support is truly appreciated,” the department said.
