VIDEO & PHOTOS: Lakewood Fire Crews Use Jetting Truck To Extinguish Underground Drainage System Fire in Lakewood

Firefighters in Lakewood faced an unusual fire late Tuesday night, after an underground blaze erupted in a drainage system beneath Warren Avenue.

Crews from the Lakewood Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in the area and discovered flames burning deep beneath an underground drainage network, making access and suppression difficult.

After several hours, firefighters eventually brought in a Department of Public Works jetting truck to help extinguish the blaze. The specialized equipment, typically used to clear sewer and drainage lines, was instrumental in reaching the fire and ultimately bringing it under control.

No injuries were reported.

Officials did not immediately release information about the cause of the fire.
