Lakewood FD Called In For Mutual Aid In Toms River Blaze

PHOTOS: [UPDATED] The Lakewood Fire Department was hit out for mutual aid to battle a blaze in Toms River. The fire broke out at about 2:15 PM this afternoon in a condominium complex off of Lilac Drive near Old Freehold Road.

The first volunteer Toms River Fire Company was on scene within ten minutes, police say. All Toms River Fire Companies responded to the fire including Toms River Fire Company 1 and 2 along with Silverton Fire Company, Pleasant Plains Fire Company, East Dover Fire Company and Ocean Beach. Companies from other towns who responded included Manchester, Ridgeway, Lakewood, Beachwood, Island Heights, Brick and Seaside Heights.

As a result of the fire that took the fire company a half hour to bring under control, two firefighters were transported to the hospital with minor injuries

A cat was rescued by fireman from another unit in the building.

Two of the units in the 4 unit three story complex suffered major damage and the other units suffered smoke and water damage.

Sergeant Scott Moeller coordinated the police response to the fire that is being investigated by Detective James Magovern and the Toms River Bureau of Fire Prevention. TLS.

  1. okay #11. thank you to all of the non-jewish firefighters, keep up the good work like you been doing for the past 124 years!!!!
hope everyone is donating to the fire dept. like I did.

  2. The first person of Jewish faith joined the fire department back in the 1937, with that being said, when you call or I call for the fire department they are always there. That’s all that matters. I don’t care about what they look like or what they believe in just as long as they put the fire out safely. Keep up the good work boys and girls of the LFD.

  3. Why support LCSW like they are firefighters..this story is about a lakewood fire company that went out of town to assist another town with a large scale fire..Its not about supporting LCSW or any other agency other than the local guys that went to help their brothers in another town. Who cares who was the first Jewish firefighter and when he was a firefighter in this town They are here they are good guys, ALL OF THEM, they bust their (moderated) the same as everyone else does..if you want to support anyone SUPPORT the ENTIRE LFD, not just a chosen few..we all do the work..we all deserve the praise..

remember there might come a day when you don’t have us..and then what will you do?
