Lakewood Experiences A Rare And Snow-less December

PHOTO: A year ago this time, thousands of Lakewood residents were trapped in their homes after the mega-blizzard crippled the town and dumped about 3 feet of snow on the ground. This December however, not a single inch of snow covered the ground. In fact, a snow-less December is quite rare in the North East.

Although the Data for this December is not yet available, November was rather quiet for most any November in terms of temperature and precipitation. Temperatures were on the mild side, with the statewide average of 48.9° ranking as the 10th warmest of the past 117 years, according to reports.

The month was the 25th warmest in the center’s 117 years of record-keeping.

For New York, and possibly for New Jersey, this is the third year in 140 years of recorded weather history that the city hasn’t seen snow in December.

  1. At least the DPW stayed in their budget for december as far as Snow-clearing is concerned. This is all in the z’chus of 4M deploying to Qatar.

  2. I think I speak for most of us what I am about to say. Thank God , we havent had to contend with those conditions yet. It was virtually impossible to drive around Lakewood with cars parked on both sides of the streets and right to the corners. Does anyone realize how difficult it is to turn a corner with a big bus when there is just mere inches? If we do indeed have a blizzard, PLEASE have some courtesy to others on the road.
