School District Superintendet Laura Winters – whose contract was not renewed – told the Board she’s not interested in an interim position being considered for her.
As reported by TLS earlier this year, the board chose not to renew Winters’ contract – which expires this month. Winters served since 2012.
As the Board continues its search for a permanent superintendent, it intended to choose between Winters and Lee Seitz as an interim superintendent. Seitz, who served as a superintendent in Parsippany, was criticized by Governor Christie for being overpaid.
But this evening, Winters made it clear to the Board, she has no interest in the interim position.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for considering me for the position of “Interim Superintendent;” however, I am not interested in the assignment at this time,” Winters wrote to the Board.
“Good luck with your search.”
Please G-d
Help the children and staff of Lakewood !
Surely You would agree that only open miracles have the ability to do so .
Good for you Laura. You have taken enough abuse. Go be happy!
Winter is may be a very fine woman however there are other people who are qualified so if she doesn’t want the job that is offered to her there are other people who do.
Why is it if Michael sends a statement it’s printed and mine isnt
bec hes the board attorney and your not
The board spent thousands of dollars it doesn’t have to hire a search firm that worked for 4 months to find a suitable candidate for the permanent superintendent’s position and came up empty. Enough is Enough. Mrs. Winters should be renewed as the permanent superintendent. Offering the interim job after serving 5 years as the superintendent was insulting. Lakewood has improved its graduation rate and made progress on test scores according to DOE information.
The board didn’t renew her contract for a good reason. i think its time to move on.
