Renowned Baalei Tzedakah Chuny and Chavi Herzka have donated the name of the mega Misameach Family Center in Lakewood, TLS has learned.
The philanthropists notified Misameach Founder Lipa Schwartz late last night that they would be donating the name of the building. This tremendous news comes just about 24 hours before Lipa’s wedding.
”This is the biggest and best wedding gift ever!” Lipa told TLS.
Lipa tells TLS he was sworn to secrecy about the donation amount, but sources tell TLS the number is over $2 million.
The building, located on Cedarbridge Avenue in Lakewood, is currently under construction and nearing completion.
The 25,000 square foot facility will contain a game room, a cafe, a recording studio, outdoor activities, rooftop lounges and much more.
The building cost several million dollars, Schwartz says.
Chuny and Chavi Herzka, of Lakewood, have also dedicated the new Chai Lifeline Center and others, and are among the largest supporters of Torah and Yeshivas in the world today.
Wow !! This is great news. As an occasional Misameach volunteer, I see how much the family center helps families struggling with an illness. Sometimes, going out for an hour to the game room is the only hour of sanity the family will enjoy all week.
I’ve also met with Lipa several times to discuss funding for the much needed new, expanded center and how to raise it. He has been working tirelessly for over 2 years on this project.
I also know Chuny from Back when he lived in Coventry. Who knew then that he would one day be one of the top supporters of Torah and Chessed institutions, in America ?
Not I, that’s for sure.
Mazel Tov, Misameach Family.
Mazel Tov, Lipa !!
Chazak V’Ematz, Chuny and Chavie !!
This family is a smart family. They realized that Hashem sent them money to help other people and not to use their excess funds to buy expensive wines, liquor, bourbon and etc. or to fly to Switzerland or all over the world, fancy vacations, meals in expensive restaurants and I could go on and on like houses with 30 rooms with pantries full of nosh till the ceiling.
Hashem knows who to trust with his money !
Long Time Shadchan
if a philanthropist would create a fund to give a sizeable down payment for every same age shidduch UNDER 21, then those who need some help would do it for sure and that will reverse the trend and then everyone else will follow their lead.
What would be the point in doing this ?
That’s a beautiful and most generous gift to give! Mazel Tov!
it sounds like he didnt want anyone to know the amount he gave, why would you not honor that ?
