Joint Base Announces 2016 Open House and Air Show

airshow_tlsThe nation’s only tri-service joint base, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst is set to open its doors to the community May 14-15, 2016, for the 2016 ‘Power in the Pines’ Open House and Air Show. The event is set to feature air show headliners, the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds.

The Thunderbirds will perform expert aerial maneuvers in the F-16 Fighting Falcon and are the first of several expected aerial demonstrations to take place throughout the event. In addition, attendees can get up close and personal with military air and ground equipment; and experience a variety of entertainment throughout the two-day event.

Updates will come over the next several months as more acts are added to the show.

The Defense Department hosts open houses to enhance public awareness of the military’s mission, equipment, facilities and personnel and to promote positive community relations.

“We are looking forward to welcoming our community partners to our open house and air show,” said Lt. Col. Pat Rayner, 2016 Open House and Air Show director. “This is a great opportunity to thank our community for their support and to showcase what goes on behind our gates and in our skies each day.”

Community members will have an opportunity to take a closer look at the joint base’s global mobility, training and innovation capabilities and see a true joint and total force platform.

The last Open House and Air Show hosted by JB MDL was in May 2014.

  1. Its was amazing. .. We also enjoyed it.. It’s was so educational and we really like it. But the problem is, that I would love my boys to go with us, but last time I picked them up earlier from yeshiva’s to come with us and I really got a big mussar shmooz from one of my boys menahels…they were upset with us for doing it. And the one menahels, that we did ask permission to go, said that he doesn’t agree with us, but if we fill that our son needs this outlet , he can’t forbid us doing it. What is the right thing? We felt, that if family is going ,it’s not fare to leave boys out. I
think yeshiva’s should organize this trip themselves all together and let boys have some constractive outlet.they for sure could use it. They say it’s bittul torah…I truly believe, that if you give boys some time off , they will be more productive. If my boys can’t come, what’s the point? Little kids are to small to appreciate and girls ,as much as they enjoyed I think it’s really boy thing to do….any ideas?
