JCP&L: Most Power Expected To Be Restored By Tuesday Night Following Severe Storms

Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) says crews continue to work around the clock to restore electricity following Friday evening’s severe thunderstorms, with approximately 67,000 customers still without power as of Sunday.

The utility says it has already restored service to approximately 230,000 of the nearly 300,000 customers impacted by the storms and extreme heat over the past several days. The storms caused widespread damage across the region, including hundreds of broken utility poles and downed power lines.

JCP&L expects the vast majority of remaining customers to have power restored by Tuesday night, with most of the remaining outages expected to be restored by Wednesday night.

Thousands of utility workers, including personnel from other FirstEnergy companies and outside contractor crews, remain engaged in the restoration effort.

JCP&L noted that while residents may not see crews working in their immediate neighborhoods, restoration often begins with repairs to major high-voltage transmission and distribution lines that serve large areas before power can be restored to individual homes and businesses. In many cases, multiple areas of damage must be repaired before service can be fully restored.

The utility says estimated restoration times will continue to be updated as damage assessments are completed and repair plans are finalized.

Customers can check the latest outage information and estimated restoration times on JCP&L’s outage map or report outages by calling 1-888-LIGHTSS (1-888-544-4877), texting OUT to 544487, or using the company’s online outage reporting system.

the power lines should have been buried when the whole system had to be rebuilt after Sandy. we need to bury them now so this stops happening.

It wasn’t rebuilt after Sandy. No place rebuilt their systems. They just repaired the damage.

They do that in all new neighborhoods in Lakewood – since at least the ’90s’. But even in Brooklyn where they’ve been doing that much longer, there have been outages due to heavy usage (famous one in ’70’s) and manhole fires (big one in Queens around 2000)

Little consolation for those of us who lost power before the storm and still out.

No. because you’re the problem. You chose to issue permits for new conmstruction, at nauseum. No care what so ever for upgrading the infrastructure. Then you blame the lack of infrastructure. BTW, that’s why the surrounding towns are being so difficult to the Frum. they believe, and are probably correct in that belief, that if the Frum get the power they will do the same to them.

While they’re closing the road every night for infrastructure improvements how about getting the electric company involved?

Someone’s gotta answer for this.. I lost power BEFORE the first wind storm (right before shabbos). They only came down this afternoon and the entire thing took 5 minutes to fix!!!
