A Jackson Township woman has pleaded guilty after shooting a 79-year-old man in the shoulder last year.

Marian Rojas, 34, pleaded guilty on June 15 to Aggravated Assault in connection with the October 24, 2025 shooting on Jackson Pines Road in Jackson Township. She faces a recommended sentence of seven years in New Jersey State Prison when she is sentenced on August 24, 2026. The sentence would be subject to the No Early Release Act.

Police responded to a residence on Jackson Pines Road at approximately 9:15 p.m. and found a 79-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to his shoulder. He was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, treated for minor injuries, and released.

Investigators determined that Rojas was the shooter and had fled the scene. About 45 minutes later, Manchester Township Police stopped a vehicle matching the description that had been broadcast to surrounding agencies and took Rojas into custody without incident. She has remained lodged in the Ocean County Jail since her arrest.

According to prosecutors, the plea agreement was reached after the victim asked that mercy be shown to Rojas. Prosecutors said the agreement would not have been considered without the victim’s request.

The case was investigated by the Jackson Township Police Department, Manchester Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
