Jackson to Review Ordinance to Change One Way Street After Resident Concerns Regarding Parking and Traffic

The Jackson Township Council is reviewing an ordinance that was enacted in 1979 regarding parking on Andover Road. During a recent township council meeting, residents expressed their concern over discrepancies in the street’s current status.

Council President Jennifer Kuhn notified residents of a full review with the Jackson Township Police Department’s Traffic Safety Bureau. The bureau has been asked to conduct an updated traffic safety study on the road.

Kuhn said the 1979 ordinance appeared to be non-enforced as a one-way street between New Prospect Road to Aldrich Road

That ordinance reads: Schedule VII: One-Way Streets. In accordance with the provisions of § 103-12, the following described streets or parts of streets are hereby designated as one-way streets in the direction indicated: Name of Street Direction Location Andover Road [Added 11-13-1979 by Ord. No. 50-79]

As the road sits between two county roads, county officials are also being asked to investigate the matter to make an appropriate decision.

“Residents came to our meeting and had questions,” Kuhn said. “After we conduct the studies, we hope to have answers and a final solution to announce in the near future.”
