A Jackson man was arrested following a DWI investigation conducted by the Lakewood Police Department, TLS has learned.
Responding to TLS inquiry, Captain LeRoy Marshall says officers responded to the intersection of Ocean Avenue and New Hampshire Avenue after a passerby reported a possible crash. Upon arrival, officers located a damaged 2019 Ford Transit van in the middle of the intersection.
Police identified the driver as Jaime Comse-Gonzalez, 41, of Jackson. During the investigation, officers observed signs indicating that Comse-Gonzalez was allegedly under the influence, and he was subsequently placed under arrest.
Authorities said that during a search conducted incident to the arrest, officers recovered a quantity of suspected cocaine.
Comse-Gonzalez was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and issued multiple motor vehicle summonses, including driving while intoxicated. He was processed and released pending a future court appearance.
Lakewood Police Chief Gregory H. Meyer commended the officers involved in the investigation and emphasized the department’s continued focus on roadway safety.
“Impaired driving continues to be one of the most dangerous issues facing our roadways,” Meyer said. “Our officers remain proactive in identifying drivers who place others at risk and taking the necessary enforcement action to help keep our community safe.”
The investigation was conducted by members of the Lakewood Police Department Patrol Division.
