The Jackson Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect who was involved in a pursuit this morning.
At approximately 9:26 am, Officer Mark Rodina observed a motorcyclist on North Hope Chapel Road between East Veteran’s Highway and South Cooksbridge Road travelling toward Lakewood. It was observed that the motorcycle was travelling at 60 mph in a 40 mph speed zone and that the operator was stretching his arms out and did not have hold of the handlebars of the bike.
Officer Rodina was able to turn around and catch up to the motorcycle and attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop. The motorcycle turned onto Shonee Court just into Lakewood and as the officer pulled behind him, it fled. The officer pursued the motorcycle from North Hope Chapel Road, onto New Central Avenue and then onto Jackson Pines Road. Once on Jackson Pines Road, the operator of the motorcycle went off the road, over debris and into the woods. The officer pursued on foot but the operator was able to get the cycle onto a path in the woods and elude the officer.
The operator of the motorcycle was described as a white male, 45-50 years old, 5’-09” to 5’-11” tall, heavyset build approximately 280 pounds. He had a ruddy complexion, brown hair and mustache and was wearing an open face black motorcycle helmet with some kind of sticker on the back of it. He was also wearing a dark charcoal flannel style shirt, blue jeans and white sneakers.
The motorcycle was described as an older model imported cruiser style motorcycle. It appeared to be black with chrome trim. It had an older style, blue license plate on it which began with the letter “M”.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111 [TLS-28]
don’t all motorcycle plates begin with ” M ” ????
Is there a reward??
A license is usually the first thing recorded by a PO,wouldn’t he call it in and ask for backup?
I’m happy he got away. 60 in a 40 isn’t anywhere near as dangerous as a car doing 60. motorcycle can stop much faster… it will also take away some of these officers high ego’s. I tried asking one a question recently and he barely looked at me.
I think it was his reckless behavior like not having both hands on the handlebars that got the officers attention, rather than speed.
Hey cool d, just for the record it takes a motorcycle twice the distance of a car to stop, not half the distance.
its unbelievable how you can just make up stuff. Google it, everyone will say a motorcycle can stop faster.
cool d
Not all Motorcycle plates start with the letter “M”. And for those that think that a motorcyclist in invinsible..check the papers the last few days..see the crash in Jackson that killed a motorcyclist, or the ones that run on Route 70 at over 80 mph thinking they are the bosses of the roads..one lane change by the cars around them and they are a new hood ornament.
since when can police chase for a motor vehicle infraction?
