The Jackson Township Council is set to vote next week on an ordinance that would place new restrictions on large warehouses in the township.
Under the ordinance, warehouses, distribution centers and fulfillment centers under 50,000 square feet would remain permitted uses in the township’s commercial and industrial zones, while warehouses 50,000 square feet or greater would become conditional uses, subject to new standards covering lot size, buffering, noise, emissions, light and traffic.
According to the ordinance, the changes follow the township’s 2025 Master Plan, which seeks to encourage warehousing and light industrial development near highways “in a way that does not encroach into existing residential neighborhoods,” while mitigating the impacts of large warehouse users.
The ordinance was introduced at the council’s October 13 meeting. A public hearing and second reading are scheduled for Tuesday, October 27 at the Municipal Building.

I guess these guys are trying to keep Amazon from opening a warehouse in town. Sounds stupid to me.
