Two local men, from Jackson and Toms River, were arrested and charged after a traffic stop on I-195 by Wall Township Police last Monday night led to the recovery of a loaded AR-15-style “ghost gun,” authorities said.

Just after 11 p.m., a Wall Police officer conducted a traffic stop on the I-195 following a traffic violation.

During the subsequent investigation, the front-seat passenger, Jarrone Perry, 47, of Jackson, was found to have an active warrant issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. Perry was taken into custody without incident.

As the investigation continued, a Brick Police K-9 responded to the scene to assist. The K-9 conducted a free-air sniff of the vehicle and gave a positive indication for the presence of narcotics or other contraband.

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a loaded AR-15-style privately manufactured firearm, commonly referred to as a “ghost gun.”

Perry and the driver, Christopher Ojeda Jr., 18, of Toms River, were both arrested and charged with:

• Possession of an Unserialized Firearm
• Possession of Hollow-Point Ammunition
• Possession of an Assault Firearm
• Unlawful Possession of a Rifle
• Unlawful Possession of a Loaded Firearm

Additionally, Perry was charged with Certain Persons Not to Have Weapons.

Both defendants were processed in accordance with the New Jersey Criminal Justice Reform Act and transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution (MCCI).
