  1. People dress in all black and don’t wear reflectors. It’s not the speed whether your driving 35mph or 50mph and someone walks in front of a car at night there gonna get hit. Cmon can’t tell me people can’t see a car with lights in coming. I wouldn’t swerve I would hit some one too.

  2. its amazing to see how the comments roll in pointing fingers at the lakewood community. This wasnt a jewish driver-A, B-it wasnt a jewish pedestrian and he was intoxicated! so take all your comments and find someplace else for them!!!!!!!

  3. This evening around 9:15 i drove up Clifton aveue, too many cars, too much dark clothing, and many women crossing the road, NOT AT THE CROSSWALK, what is going on here, where are the safety belts, if people wear black then they should know enough to have a belt that tells someone their on them for someone to view that they can be seen in the dark, and the dark clothes,

nO MORE THAN THE TWP PUTS IN SIDEWALKS, AND HERE WHERE ARE PEOPLE WALKING in the street, time for tickets everyone, safe a life, get on the sidewalk

  4. #7
You sure got a chip on your shoulders! Who said one word about anyone being Jewish?! They were commenting on driving conditions/habits in Lakewood in general.

  5. It shouldn’t matter that the person was drunk or not he is still a person who got hurt that is the most important thing. Another thing is at least he wasn’t driving because he was drunk. No matter what people have to be more cautious no matter what religion they or ethnicity they are.

  6. Why hasn’t the Township Committee passed an ordinance requiring the wearing of reflectors by all pedestrians from dusk ’til dawn? If people don’t have enough brains to think of wearing one themseves then an ordinance is the only way to get them to wear one.

  7. # 1 You are so intelligent of course when you make a call it rings a few times. Calling 911 rings in Toms RIver Sheriffs Dept, who then calls Lakewood Police Dispatch, who then sends an ambulance and the police. SO by calling 732-363-0200 DIRECT you get a faster response. So by calling Hatzaloah direct then were notified first, and have a garage 4 blocks away. They are not Superman, so do not bash Lakewood Police, EMS, or anyone else. Know the facts.

  8. there seems to be an underlying frustration here as to the wild driving habits by some of the people who live in Lakewood. This is true as I have experienced it as the recipient of a accident and too many close calls. We need more police/camera presence and many tickets to curb the wild driving practices of the irresposable drivers out there that endanger us all.

  9. Yes he was drunk …. but was the driver on the cell phone, was the driver distracted some how? lets get all the information then figure out how to avoid this problem from happening again.

  10. why doesn’t anybody use there signals when turning
i see so many people driving on new central ave get stuck behind someone who turns without using there signals and they get so annoyed many times you see them cursing or giving the finger

  11. The carnage on Lakewood streets needs to stop.

Motorist need to use caution, drive defensively, and be aware that pedestrians make mistakes.

Pedestrians need to adhere to safety rules. Walk on the sidewalks, wear reflector belts after dusk, cross only at lit and marked intersections, never push a carriage into a travel lane prior to looking in both directions. The golden rule is: STOP, LOOK, and LISTEN.

LPD needs to begin holding drivers and pedestrians responsible for their actions that lead to injury or death.

  12. Why is it all the drivers fault.
The area where the accident happened, happens to be very dark..maybe a light would help. The person who was hit was jay walking..illegal…there is a light at the corner which can and should be used.
Even if driver was going slowly and not on sell phone and cautious,if someone walks in front of your car in the middle of the street, with no cross walk and has no light, they can be hit.

  13. These comments are all irrelevant because people will always make these mistakes, it’s in your interest to be a safe driver as well as drinking responsibly. I was there when the accident happened and even after the man got hit people barely even slowed down, one lady almost went over the man with her car after he got hit. PS. TRY SAVE ONE MINUTE TO GET SOMEWHERE FASTER and end up wasting hours for your self and other people.

  14. Bill Hobday I have to say this time I agree with you and I also love how my comment wasnt posted and it was somewhat very similar to your comment.

LPD please take control of our streets.

  15. If memory serves me correct wasnt there a man Killed about 8 years ago on Clifton Ave when he was wearing all Black and came out from the shadow and was struck by a car and the Town said we are going to pass out to the community reflective belts ohhh boy that really worked
