In response to Lakewood Town Hall stabbing attack, BOE requiring all meeting attendees to pass through metal detector

In a letter today to Board off Education staff, it was advised that all attending Lakewood Board of Education meetings will now be required to pass through metal detectors – in response to last week’s stabbing attack at Lakewood’s Town Hall.

The letter from Superintendent Winters read:

“It is extremely unfortunate that I must share this message with all of you today; however, due to recent developments, and a frightening attack at Town Hall this past week, the Board of Education now requires that all attendees must pass through a metal detector and/or hand held metal detector wand in order to attend any future Board of Education meetings.

Metal detectors and metal detector wands are utilized at all Lakewood Public Schools and School events.”

The municipal building has been super vulnerable for years. Its as secure as a box of Cheerios but nothing is done in regards to our safety until something happens….ludacris.
