Tiferes Devorah L’kalla, in memory of Devroah Jurkanski A’H, is an organization which provides assistance for less fortunate Kallahs in the means of houshold items and more.

The organization was founded by her husband, noted Askan, R’ Chaim Shaul Jurkanski.

Many Rabbonim attended as well.

  1. TDL was, in fact, not founded by her hisband, it was founded by R Tzvi Hendler. But still, its an awesome moisad. I know ppl who made chasunas, w/ v/ little savings. And TDL got all the house stuff. Tizku L’mitzvos.

  2. Ppl don’t chapp what a wedding cost. I was invloved w/ a relative of mine, for the girl, its nuts – and its not much cheaper for the boy. But the girl has to buy Shaitels, rent gown, plus gowns for sibs, then rent hall, caterer. That alone can be $15-20k if done CHEAP !! So, now, how should she buy dishes, towels, linen, blender, mixer, toaster oven ? Answer: Chaim Shaul Jerkansky & Tzvi Hendler and their amazing org: TDL. Great job guys !!

  3. This moisad is unreal. My niece just got married. She mamesh could not afford the household stuff. Towels, bedding, dishes, milchig-Fleishig-weekday-Shabbos, cutlerey, kitchen gadgets – it came out to 1000s of $$ . B”H, TDL came through for them in a big way. They were a tremndous help.

  4. TDL is great, but, let’s be honest, the hall & food comes out to much more $$ than the housewares. Truthfully, tho, it duznt have 2 b that way. We should just invite our siblings, spouse siblings for the meal & that’s IT !! Everyone else can come for Simcha choson v’Kallah. $10,000 for food is nuts. &, let’s b honest, no one wants to come 2 ur son’s/Daughter’s wedding anyway !! Mazel Tov.

  5. The men & ladies behind this a mamesh gaonim. They realize the huge pressure the whole family of a kallah is under in the wqeeks leading up to wedding day. But, lasyt night, on display, the real talent of R’ Yossi Berger, MC. Wow – what a performance. Now, ppl, I urge u, if have some ma’aser $$, send it to TDL (79 Roselle ct). I know families they helped – its such a huge chessed.

  6. Was there last night it was beautiful , I just had one bad feeling here is an organization that we mention in davening every morning for thousands of years, and yet they struggle to attract thousands of people and huge dollars. Yet very soon we will witness an organization ( a very worthy one at that ) which was started 11 years ago doing exactly that . Their budgets are BOTH a little under 500K yet one struggles and one thrives . Are we that superficial that all we consider is marketing and snippets of quotes taken out of context , did we ask our Rav where our Maaser is supposed to go . Or do we just follow the crowd like an oilam goilam.

I don’t have the answer , maybe it does make sense but I was wondering if anybody actually stopped and thought if this is right and then made their decision.

  7. last night was an embarrasment to our kehilla. many people I know were recipiants of this worthy org. yet they were MIA. To hear droshos about tznius ,internet etc we flock by the thousands but when it comes to helping our needy kallahs only a very scant “hundreds” show up. Rabbi Jurkansky doesn’t need our chizuk or praises, he needs $$ to help us.

  8. I recently got married and I did not have the money to buy the household items.. None of them. My parents cut me off and I had to buy everything myself. I am not from lakewood but I now live in lakewood and I have worked in lakewood all throughout my high school years. I heard such amazing things about tdl so I called them and they said that because I’m not a “lakewood girl” I can’t receive ANYTHING. To me, it was very embarrasing to ask for tzedaka and then told no. This is not what tzedaka is supposed to be about. I was told they didn’t have funds.. I also didn’t have funds.. So I baught my own sheitals dishes linen cutlery appliences.. I hope that what happened to me doesn’t happen to another kallah
