Holiday Parade On Clifton Avenue

holiday parade picVIDEO: If you – like many – were wondering where the fire was yesterday, there wasn’t. It was a Holiday parade. Dozens of fire trucks, EMS and LFA vehicles led by LPD’s Traffic & Safety division drove down Clifton Avenue in honor of the Holidays, while participants marched along. 1. Lakewood is running out of tax money, and talking about laying off police officers- and they still insist on a gas burning parade?
    REALLY?

-how about cut the cute things we dont really need- to save for serious things WE DO NEED?

I knew it….I KNEW IT!!!………I knew it was only a matter of time before someone would have a negative comment about a short but fun afternoon. Unlike a great deal of the community my family and friends don’t ask for a lot of special services from the township and I volunteer my time with the FD which provides the manpower for firefighting services and special events for free BUT our families can’t have 1 hour of fun and holiday cheer without complaints.

    Thanks, Thanks a lot.

  3. Let’s just say this coasted the town $25 fuel for each truck that came out that’s under $500 do you really think It is worth saving $500 and braking a century long tradition? Maybe we should not decorate the down town and do away with all the parades? What we should do away with is the trash pick up for all the private school’s churches and shuls. That costs the town over $2,000,000 a year. Next we should do away with free daily pickup for the down town saving anther $2,000,000 then we should stop allowing our industrial park to be turned It to a tax free school park. And start charging the blue claws rent as $25,000 a year is what I pay for my 2,500 sf house not a billion dollar stadium.

One thing i want to correct: The fuel cost was a lot more. These trucks eat fuel like crazy, and you know it. im a fireman myself buddy.
Between the fire trucks, and other vehicles in this parade- it cost the town a lot more then $500.
(These useless parades are a waste of money. its a start in the right direction. you gotta learn to crawl before you run. start small, and it adds up- then work on the major issues!)

  5. TO Aunt Jemima:
I am not just a Volunteer firefighter in this town and I for one appreciate the fact that the community comes together when we can. I understand the town is broke..What town in NJ isn’t broke? I once had a friend who is no longer with us tell me he would get out of the fire dept when it was not fun anymore..We have to keep the moral up in the town and the department, or when you call for help..you may just get that one truck or 2 trucks that show up on a daily basis. Yes it is helpful we have these guys but what happens when the volunteers are not enough anymore? what happens when Lakewood has no other options but to go to a full paid department? Then what? What will you complain about then.
It was 2-3 hrs of enjoyment for the firefighters and the town. With everything going on the moral was kicked up a notch yesterday. Will you next complain that we have too much equipment on Fires when those truck are running for hours on end..Then will you complain we are burning fuel that is costing the taxpayers of Lakewood more grief..I am a Tax Payer in Lakewood. I understand you have nothing better to complain about than making the Volunteers in this town feel like they are Not Wanted here..So you know what BRING ON THE PAID CREWS>>THEN YOU CAN COMPLAIN.. I am done

  6. i think the town should stop paying the police to block a road while the torah moves across town. i think the town should stop putting up light towers for parties held at a restraunt on oak street. these things cost money too….
