Here’s An Interesting One: Lakewood Resident Receives Summonses For Traffic Stop He Was Never On [UPDATE – Police To Void Tickets]

A Lakewood resident was shocked to open his mailbox to find two summonses as a result of a traffic stop. The issue? He says he was never stopped.

The resident tells TLS he received a court notice in the mail referencing two summonses, but when he realized this was an obvious mistake, he contacted the court for a copy of the tickets.

He received the two tickets (pictured), which allege he was driving in Howell without a license and without insurance. The issue is, he says he was never stopped, nor was he or his car there. In fact, the vehicle listed doesn’t even belong to him.

It seems, the residents says, a driver – possibly a former employee – who had no license or documentation impersonated him to the officer during a traffic stop, and gave over false information, resulting in him receiving the summonses in the mail.

The resident says he requested bodycam and other documentation to bring to court.

UPDATE: 3:30 PM: The resident tells TLS he just received a phone call from a representative at the Howell Municipal Court who read this story, and apologized for the error. The rep said they would be voiding the tickets.

  1. According to fictitious sources, the police officer, who supposedly handed out the summons, later told his superiors that he never handed out any summonses in Howell on that particular day! Police officials soon discovered that not only was someone impersonating the Lakewood resident, but someone was also impersonating the police officer.
The police officer tried to get the bodycam info of the incident, but then he realized that his impersonator, whoever he is, and wherever he might reside, probably doesn’t have any bodycam info.

  2. The biggest issue here isnt the guy getting the tickets as tagt is easy to fix, it is the fact that illegal aliens can drive around without any form of id commit all kind of violations and the cops just let them go.
