      • I didn’t read it that way.
There was very little snow at 8:00pm. It sounds like they did nothing reckless at all, but that the snowplow suddenly slowed down to turn off onto the ‘official use only’ area in a spot where 99% of cars are expected to return to highway speeds right after that toll plaza we all know Northbound, where the highway splits into Local and Express. It’s a jumble of lanes in the best of times, let alone when a snowplow is ahead doing something unpredictable.

        • I also want to point out, I travel on the parkway every day to exit 145 from Lakewood. The maintenance trucks will just slow down suddenly in the left lane. There is no way to know they are trying to get to an access area (like in this story). Unless you’re very familiar with the parkway. I myself had a few close calls. And this was in regular weather.

  1. Was with them in Kava cafe with this past motzei shabbos! Such a sweet couple!! Eli Always made everyone smile!! I’ll never forget by Rav Sholom Schechter’s yeshiva in eretz yisroel he would be mechazek all the workers & the cook he was a walking simchas hachaim!!

    • you’re right. its the malach hamavet period. but some people get some emotional support when they hear details. also, they want to know because they feel its a safety hishtadlus (in their understanding)

      • The mashgiach, Rav Mattisyahu Salomon z”l once spoke about this – that one can say ‘I’ll do things better than someone else’, but it’s all Min Shamayim (from Heaven).
At the same time, certainly, if one has a safety suggestion, that is important – and the mashgiach strongly promoted safety.

  2. harav dovid mordechi rothenberg is from the “old lakewooders”.
a talmid chochom of the highest caliber, bukee bkol chadrei torah who sits to this day al torah val avoda

a beautiful family torn apart by this horrific tragedy their are no words… only hashem can be menacheym them.
may they have the kochoes to overcome this loss
and quickly be reunited with the geula we all yearn for bekorov

  3. I didn’t know them but just reading about it breaks my heart…we are one nation and beat with one heart. May Hashem comfort their families and friends.

  4. There are no words. The only thing that can carry us on is constantly remembering your joy for life, your acceptance of challenges, and your infectious positivity. There was nobody who bought more joy to others and bought out the best in others like you did.

  5. R’ Eli ע’ה was a master at greeting all with a smile as the משנה instructs. I humbly suggest that as a זכות נשמה we all try emulating him in this regard. If one is not conditioned to so doing yet, possibly start by holding the door for the next person.

  6. I don’t know this couple at all.

Just reading and hearing what happened is a tremendous shock to me!!!

There are no words to be MENACHEM both families; only HASHEM CAN!!!

  7. Eli was such an enjoyable person to be around with immense Simchas Hachaim. Always with a smile and loved making people happy! Gave off just positive vibes! His wife was amazing as well!
So much to learn from them!
    Baruch Dayan Haemes!

  8. There are no words to describe this tragedy!!
They are a Korban for all of Klal Yisroel!! Soo painful!!!
In regards to the accident, it seems very ‘suspicious’ that the moment the snow truck was trying to make a you turn.. The couple r”l ‘lost control??? Perhaps the truck caused it?? They might be hiding it… No their lives can’t be brought back… But facts have to remain facts…

  9. BD”E I knew Eli briefly from tennis and met him in shul from time to time-he always had a warm smile and was a real mentch!
The families should both be comforted and never have any more tzar!

  10. A few thoughts from the heart after attending the heart wrenching levaya.

We all woke up this morning to the devastating & tragic news. Our dear friend and his wife, Eli & Raizy Neydavoud A”h and unborn child were killed in a horrible accident last night r”l. There are literally no words. Zero. We are all completely heartbroken and numb.

Eliyahu ALWAYS had a smile on his face. When I say always I mean he was always happy, always giving a smile to others, he was a shtick Simchas Hachaim.

As native LA boys, we grew up together. He was mamish the sweetest with a magnetic personality! Everyone that knew him felt like they were his best friend! He went through a lot of difficulties and struggles (who doesn’t?) and no matter what, he was positive. He was just a good good Yid!

A little over a year ago, he got married to his wife Raizy. As was mentioned at the levaya, he loved his new wife and new family and was so connected to them. He learned with his shver and enjoyed it so much!

The chasuna had a special energy that I can’t explain in words. Eli and his family are Persian with a Yeshivisha touch. Raizy and her family are hiemish and an old time Lakewood family. There was magic. Eli was the most incredible Choson! The crowd was dancing and involved because Eli was the one creating the fire atmosphere.

Raizy fully backed her husband and was there for him in every way. They were beginning a beautiful life together and when they found out they were expecting a child it was the greatest Simcha for them and the family.

Eli was part of Rabbi Harari’s Yeshiva. A friend shared with me at the levaya “he didn’t just teach the boys, he was one of the boys” He learned with everyone with the same geshmak and fire no matter what level the bochur was on. He shteiged with the guys and chilled with the guys. That was Eli!

His brother Yehuda said in his hesped, “when he didn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel, he made the light at the end of the tunnel!” There was no challenge he didn’t believe he can take on.

We didn’t meet each other often, but every time we met and spoke he was just full of life, full of chiyus, a true Eved Hashem. I will miss him dearly.

    Yehi Zichrom Baruch

  11. They indeed were together. From my first look at the livestream I thought I only saw one Ahron, but then I realized that one was behind the other and there were two there. So that was the levaya for both of them.

  12. this unfortunate accident happened on State property and as such since it is the responsibility of the State to provide safe passage for toll paying travelers moreover the utility vehicle was actively operating under the auspices of the State of New Jersey and while the family is traumatized and in mourning it is the responsibility of the State to conduct a full and transparent investigation and provide restitution and bear payment of incurred recovery costs by the family and other related material damages caused by negligence, erroneous judgement, or criminal misconduct on the part of the company or companies providing safety and roadway maintenance on behalf of the state.

  13. Rhonda – this simply isn’t the forum for your question. Speak to a Chevra kadisha or hatzala member as to what happens in such a situation. This isn’t the place for it.
