ahhhh, Reb Lazer is not stam a yungerman. he is from the gor gor chashuvei Lakewood. his yedios is l'haflei. his daf yomi shiur is world famous.

My comment is not directed specificly at the current post. It is more of a general question.
Can someone enlighten me on the source of this seemingly new minhag (at least in non chassidish circles) of having a Rosh Yeshiva help the boy put on teffilin. I have very fond memories of my father putting on my teffilin with me for the first time, just as his father did with him. I'm not sure why we are looking to replace that.
I don't either know where this minhag came from but if Reb Lazer Apter toke his son to a livisha gadol it must be oisgehalten
