Governor Vetoes Same-Gender Marriage Bill, As Promised

The Governor on Friday vetoed the same-gender marriage bill, as promised, but said he would strengthen the civil union law, which NJ currently has. The bill gained the Assembly;s approval on Thursday by 41-33, but failed to get enough votes to override the Governor’s veto.

The bill was vetoed about 6 hours after reaching his desk.

On Thursday, many from Lakewood – including Rabbonim – protested before the Assembly voted on the issue, which was later passed by a narrow margin. TLS.

  1. Christy gets credit for the veto even though it was politically motivated. Now they will try and get a two third majority in both houses to override the veto.

We must pray that they dont or there will be more earthquakes…
