Surveillance video obtained by TLS shows the frightening moment a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and thrown approximately 20 feet.
The accident occurred approximately 8:55 AM.
The video shows the cyclist crossing in the crosswalk over County Line Road when a vehicle turning left struck her, throwing her approximately 20 feet.
The victim was hospitalized and is in stable condition, police said.
The accident is under investigation.
The car is going fast in slow motion.
Hope the child is OK!
half pedestrian accidents in town occur on county line. something ought to be done
@Crazy Actually look at the first part, and you will see that driver is going at normal speed. The second half is not slow motion, it’s only panned in, so things look out of proportion.
My neighbor, our neighborhood Shabbos Goy, was hit in the crosswalk on 6th and Clifton last week. He was ok, bH. He was wearing a refector. Person was driving too fast & didn’t see him. The Lakewood roads are a real problem for pedestrians and cyclists.
But he still got hit by the car…. So why is it a good thing he had his reflector on….
That is very scary! I hope the biker makes a speedy recovery.
Not knowing what happened, or the particular details, people don’t realize that there ARE laws even for bikers. A bike is vehicle! And a biker must obey all the laws, just like a vehicle. Including Right-of-Way! Remember your mother telling you to get off your bike when crossing a street? That’s because Pedestrians DON’T need to yield to other vehicles.
She had green light and was going straight , the car was turning and had to yield … 100% cars fault on insurance.
It looks like the car tried making a left turn and didn’t realize the oncoming car so he tried avoiding a crash but didn’t realize the biker was there
I have noticed many people crossing when we have a green turning single and the crosswalk light says don’t walk, they think its there right of way because its red but they need to read the crosswalk sign because there might be a green turning single the other way, I drive my kids to school each morning and many times wait for people to cross but really isn’t safe because a car turning on green does not always take an extra precaution to look for pedestrians
Everyone needs to slow down. Also pedestrians should be more aware as to what is going on around them. Many pedestrians cross in the middle of the road when they could easily walk just a little further to the proper crosswalk. You can not assume a driver sees you. In a crowded town like Lakewood one needs to be extra careful stepping into the road.
