A 19 year old Freehold man was sentenced to state prison for the November 2025 stabbing of a woman at a Jackson Township apartment complex.
Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Jaden Thompson, 19, of Freehold, was sentenced on October 23, 2026, by Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison on his guilty plea to Attempted Murder. The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, requiring Thompson to serve at least 85 percent of the term before he may be considered for parole.
Judge Palmer also sentenced Thompson to five years in state prison for Endangering the Welfare of a Child in connection with the same incident, and five years for Eluding in connection with a pursuit in Edison Township the following day. All of the sentences will run concurrently.
As previously reported, Thompson pleaded guilty to all charges before Judge Palmer on August 31, 2026.
Jackson Township Police responded on November 27, 2025, to the Paragon Apartments on Larsen Road for a report of a stabbing. Officers found a woman suffering from a stab wound to her abdomen and a 19 month old infant lying in the area where the stabbing occurred. The infant was uninjured. The woman was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where she was treated and released.
An investigation determined that Thompson was responsible for the stabbing. He fled the area in a black Hyundai Sonata, and he was charged, with his name entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
The following day, Edison Township Police officers identified the vehicle Thompson was using. When they attempted a motor vehicle stop, Thompson sped away and crashed, then attempted to flee on foot before being taken into custody nearby. He has been held in the Ocean County Jail since November 29, 2025.
